I have had the flue one first with no side effects, then a couple of days ago the covid moderna one, my sisters said it affected them , but apart from a slightly sore arm no issues.
I have now been told I need a shingles one.
If I had any money I would buy Pharma shares:(
Our doc advised us to cancel our jabs - which were scheduled for the Monday of the week just passed. We're now rebooked for a couple of weeks from now. I'll be more than fit for walking from the multistorey car park to the vaccination centre by then and, if Mrs J continues her, very slow improvement, she should be fine too. Unfortunately she didn't have a good night last night but that was more due to her sciatica keeping her from sleeping rather than the pneumonia symptoms which are continuing to, very slowly, improve. Still very worried about her as the improvement is taking place so slowly - But look on the bright side young Jock, at least there is improvement! Damn it, I've now got a sore throat and a wee niggly cough, had it for slightly over 24 hours. Doesn't seem to be getting any worse though and lemsips seem to be working well. When I'm feeling low I just keep telling myself what an incredibly lucky sod I am not to be one of the poor devils in Gaza just now and it puts things more in perspective.

Moving in tne right direction, however slowly, is good news and, as you say, at least we’re not being bombed, sniped, starved and executed

Aye, I'm indescribably appalled and despondent over what's going on there. I don't care who is to blame or anything else, Quite apart from the appalling death toll I'm just despairing over all the non combatants, especially the children, who are being so brutally and inhumanly subject to the violence. What's wrong with all the rest of us, so called humans, that we can't get this stopped? If the aliens are up there watching us they must be seriously considering just dropping a planet buster on the earth and moving on to another civilization that better deserves their attention!

I’m not even sure you can call us a ‘civilisation’, civilised societies don’t go round murdering each other…after the reports this morning, that the US was informed about Israel attacking Iran, it became clear that the reasons for the wests involvement is…’US were aware of the intended attack on Iranian soil and insisted Israel did not attack their oilfields…’
The do say that the US is an ‘oil company with an army’

Winter wheels back on as colder weather possible from the forecast. Id forgotten I had repainted them so it was a nice suprise. Summer tyres now ending year 5 have about 4.5mm left so another two maybe three years left. WInters still on 7+mm so they will last until age gets them, SO another job washing the alloys and de=stoning the tyres. Its about my limit after that cast iron bath. Im going to need a week to recover from that! Next week the house kicks off, heating and roofing and locksmiths arrive and windows all set to arrive weds. Just hope i can get them indoors.
I ran two sets of wheels for quite a few years, as when I started, there were only summer or winter tyres available in 155/13. The downside I found, was that both sets get old, and start to age harden, while still having plenty of tread left.
Dec 2022, one of the valves perished and let go. It got old, faster than the tyre. That ruined a winter tyre, and with them about 7 years old, and definitely not performing as well as when new, although still significantly better than the summers in cold weather, it was not worth buying one new tyre. So sadly, scrapped the other three as well, and ran the summers for 18 months, to try to get some use out of them. Earlier this year, got a set of all-seasons. Performing well, in all temps so far. If I lived further north, might still need dedicated winters.

I've thought about running winter tyres in the past but the expense has always put me off - that and the fact I've never done a big enough annual mileage to ever wear two sets out before they degraded. I have been thinking of some all seasons jobbies but have read that they are such a compromise that they don't do either job - winter or summer - particularly well. The Scala, with just 3,000 miles on it has almost no measurable wear, maybe half a mil on the fronts, but the Panda will need two new tyres if she passes her MOT and I decide to keep her rather than looking for a late model 1.2 to replace her. Just might try a couple on her if I keep her.

Yup.. I agree with the sentiment. I will not buy any more summer tyres once these are gone and will set about the Michelins and then switch to a cran all seasons tyre. I have little doubt these Alpine winters are in another league when its cold and icy enough, and they are really good on wet muddy roads and rotting leaves too but for summer they just use too much fuel to be sensible and they are a tad noisy too.

I have finally cleaned poor Noop I think the last time was April which is way the longesttime I have ever not washed my car since I started driving. Hes now wearing his winter coat and waiting in the garage for some Diamond Brite or Autoglym Gold before he can come back out to play, so Im busy tomorrow. Its pretty difficult as I have wounded my shoulder and cant even lift a cup of coffee with my right. I will get it done somehow and them get back to building works. I need the porch down by wednesday so I can get it rebuilt for the weekend weather allowing. I dont want to be faffing when the roofers are on site in a weeks time.

Sorry to hear you are both still going through hell. Its not good and I wish you both a quick recovery. Its not so bad if one or other is still up and going to look after the other but whenyou are both are down together we all understand how difficult and worrying it is. I started asking my other half if she is OK on a daily basis a while back. She never complains even if she isvery ill. I don't know if asking will make her say if she's not right but Anyway we are both thinking of you and wishing we were near enough to offer help. Thank heavens there are a lot of decent folk about who do!

This is my first year on all-seasons, so going into my first winter. Now have some on the Fabia too. Doblo van has only 15k miles on it, so original tyres still good. They're van spec too, so more expensive, so not going to throw them away for the sake of it.
I did run the winters all through a summer on the Panda. Tolerable, but definitely a little squidgy in the hottest weather. These all-seasons definitely change in feel as the temp changes, so I do think they'll do a reasonable job if it gets cold. On both cars, they feel very good in the cooler temps, and a little softer on hot days. Down here our winters are rarely very cold, or for long, so they should suit.
Quite a few of the supermarkets run winters all year, although the vans are not looking for peak performance and cornering, but work fine all weathers. The Sprinter vans are now FWD, and better on snow, but the RWD vans on winters were driveable, whereas the one supermarket using summer tyres would cancel deliveries in the worst cold weather. One of the supermarkets is now going over to all-seasons, with no issues last winter in my area.

Thanks for the kind words, means a lot, as you probably realize. My leg is doing really well now and improving by the day so I'm getting about in the house really very well. Taking her her morning cup of tea and biscuit is now almost as easy as it's been in the past. She's picked up some more today but it's slow progress, progress non the less though. Oh, and she's now coughing up horrid green phlegmy gunge which I guess is good and she's not so short of breath. Still 3 more days of the very strong pills etc. We are almost next door - 5 minute walk - from the crematorium and heard today that a dear close friend is being cremated there next Friday. Of course we want to be there. The way she's now picking up I think this may be a possibility but I'm going to ring the doc and ask what he thinks. Gives her something to aim for I suppose? I was feeling very low on Thursday because I started a cough with sore throat and that's how her pneumonia started off. Went to bed Thursday night with a lemsip and a prayer! All day Friday I had the sore throat and cough but it got no worse and didn't seem to be spreading into lungs etc. Lots of lemsips consumed and went to bed last night not feeling much different. Today though the throat is nothing like so sore and the cough is less frequent. More lemsips tonight and I'm hoping I'll be a lot better tomorrow. I think it's just been one of "those" autumn bugs?

Starting to think the Nav in the Toyota is actually reasonably competent, to be fair my expectations were that it would be a bin fire so anything better than that may be positive.

However I may have fired an email at local Toyota main agent to see if they can update in branch if I pay as I really cannot be ****ed to dick on finding a memory stick from 1872.

Done a fair few miles this week already (340) and most of it has been places I kinda knew where I was going but set the nav as not been to most of them this year just to make sure I wasn't missing turnings etc. Other than bits where the road has moved or didn't exist in 2016 it did the job.

It's clunky to use and the UI is awful...but once you've got it set it works, it has junction overview, it displays turn by turn nav between the gauges, speed camera locations
on it etc.

Hmm...perhaps it'll go on my to do list... certainly cheaper than getting Android Auto sorted for it.

Finally got around to washing the red Utah clay off of my F150 yesterday.
Before.

After.

I would have done it earlier but, 1)I was hurting until Monday, back spasm. And 2)I really didn't want to.

Just praying for rain really, that's what I do.;););)
That, too, but it didn't happen.

Earlier this year while doing a Motorcycle Awareness class with the guy training me, one of the students asked the trainer how he does his maintenance on his bike. He replied that he takes it to the Harley dealer for oil changes and such but that he washes the bike and polishes the chrome after every ride. He then looked at me and asked what I did.
I replied that I do all my own work and as far as washing the bike goes, that's what rain is for. And chrome gets painted so it doesn't need to be polished.;)

Late morning, a bit of a commotion outside. An old, scruffy Transit skip lorry, with two very rusty and battered tiny skips, being deposited on the drive next door. Woman operating the truck seemed inept. The two skips were stuck together, so hanging them a foot off the ground, with the chains holding the top one, she bashed at the lower one with a sledgehammer. One end only, so as it tilted, it held tighter at the other end. Much bashing and cussing before they let go. She then dragged each one across the gravel, where skilled positioning of the truck could have saved that.
The house next door is owned by a housing association. These skips are obviously 'budget', which does not fit with the HA. So sometime soon, there will be noise and mess. HA has recently done the kitchen, the bathroom, the boiler, and the windows, so I wonder what is being done this time. Garden was landscaped by her partner, some time before he left, so nothing to do there.
It will not be good.

I walked past the new Citroen C3 at the local shopping centre and immediately realised, that this is the 'new Panda' coming soon, just with French styling. Size an stature wise, it seems promising enough.

Still no pricing on the Fiat UK site or configurator... I will continue to patiently wait. Hope to see the real thing as soon as possible!

If you are serious, just confirm that the engine will have a timing chain, not a wet belt. I think they all should be chains by now, but worth asking.

Or maybe just electric?

Although the whole thing about getting us to buy electric doesn't seem to be going at all according to plan does it?

Yes, all the major manufacturers seem to have ‘paused’ EV production, Tesla have just scrapped their smallest EV (2), VW are shutting shop on three factories and Fiat have ‘temporarily halted’ production at two sites. The UKs charging infrastructure is still ‘decades away’ from being adequate and folk are being stopped from pavement charging…

I read somwhere that Stellantis are shutting multiple American plants too - Jeep and Dodge I read?
