I started feeling congested early Saturday evening. Didn't think much of it. A little worse Sunday morning, so I checked the pollen count. Whoo boy. The count was really high. Feels like late summer allergies. Sunday night, headache and a cough along with the congestion. Lousy night's sleep. I wake up with all that and a sore throat on Monday. Sh!t. This ain't allergies, it's a sinus infection. In my 68 years, it's easier to count on one hand when I didn't suffer through one in any given year.
I end up slamming Advil and snorting Flonase until my Dr appointment/physical on Tuesday. Doc checks me over. Except for the sinus infection, I'm in pretty good shape for an old fart. My A1C dropped and so did my weight. The doc prescribes a short course of antibiotics and also gets me a new glucose meter. Type 2 seems to be part of the American DNA now.
I started the antibiotics Tuesday afternoon. Thursday evening, all the symptoms are gone, save for a bit of hoarseness.

Wednesday afternoon, Mrs.Cheest is feeling a bit under the weather. Mrs.Cheest, being Mrs.Cheest, says I gave her what I had. I tell her I would have loved to share it with her but sinus infections don't work that way. She had a horrible nights sleep last night and it was somehow my fault. She looked and felt like hell most of the day. I offered to take her to Immediate Care(like a walk in clinic)to see if she did have a sinus infection. She self diagnoses herself, and just flat out said no, I had to have given her something. I finally got her to go to the local Pharmacy that does Flu/Covid testing. Double Sh!t. She tested positive for Covid.

She's still insisting that I had a mild case of Covid and shared it. Whatever. Pretty sure my doc would have had me tested if he thought I may have had Covid.

I have heard there is a Summer version of Covid around and like you recently felt a bit off , sore throat, coughing, heavy mucus etc. Not quite old enough for the 75 year old Summer Covid Vaccine, so tested myself and it came up negative, so I will have to put up with it, until my body fights it off as if waiting for a Doctors appointment I would be more likely to die of old age first!
I am working on the old adage of "feed a cold and starve a fever":)

We've just had an injection for some sort of respiratory virus - RSV I think? - They're only giving it to folk aged 75 to 80 years old just now up here in Scotland. It really stung, like a wasp sting but a wee bit more "stingy". We must have been allocated the first appointments on that day and there were only half a dozen people there so we were in and out in under a half hour.

Edit. The relevance of the above is that they must be "worried" about some sort of respiratory "thing" making the rounds at present?

It's nice that the NHS seems to care about the oldies. They could save the cost of the vaccines, and let us all pop off, but I suppose the risk of us hanging on and needing expensive treatment and care mean the vaccine is cheaper.
Just wait until a cost-saving government cuts off NHS at a set age. (You heard it here first.)

Seems whoever is in charge ‘austerity and cuts’ are the mantra, despite many knowing that economies don’t work like that

Aye, it did occur to me that it was "strange" they were cutting off at 80 years? Those of us between 75 and 80 must be quite a small cohort?

Oh deers. Best wishes for Mrs Cheest. And please next time your ill; go sleep in the shed!

Ive got the congestion, Im assuming pollen. Doesn't help sleep, but I also now have a mass on my remaining kidney. Waiting MRI results but its ominous. I fully intend to work on a, fever or cold, stuff your face with all the goodies and booze you can who nows how long we have left. Being told a week back I will need a double cornea transplant doesnt add much to my humour. Its live for now and worry about tomorrow another day from now on.

Yup, I'm increasingly of the opinion "live for today" is the way to go.

Thank you. She's somewhat better, now at the 'Pain in the ass' stage. I will hear many complaints about my even being alive the next few days. She's an awful patient, so I'm going to pretend my hearing has gotten worse. :D
I slept on the living room couch last night and probably will for the next couple of nights, though there is the possibility of a night or two outside in our trailer.

RSV goes around every year, very common in children and my wife sees it a lot over the winter.

I’m not sure if the relevance of the vaccine being given to 75-79 year olds this year, evidence shows RSV is more of a risk to the over 60s and those with other health conditions, I can only assume some analysis has been done to suggest that this age group are still young enough to benefit but not so old that the benefits are outweighed or made in inaffective by other medical conditions.

I’ll ask my wife later when she’s about she might know why this specific age group has been singled out

I think you CAN hold your breath on this, but they must already be rationing some treatments and age will be a factor. Inevitable when resources are stretched.

Weekly checks on the infernal device, nothing really of note. It's used a little oil this year...but it's done 11k miles and in that time gone from max to 3/4s so hardly drinking it.

But noted this particular piece of insanity while I had the sound proofing off to check for injector leaks etc which I do every once in a while, The induction routing is absolutely mental.

I had always assumed the air filter was in the box bottom right behind/above the headlamp (I've never had need to find it..). But no that's it at the back beside the bulk head...so the route the air takes before reaching the turbo is....

This does at least explain why the Puretech engined cars that go through rufford ford usually live as to hydrolock one of these you need to get the water to travel upwards through the filter at the back of the engine bay.

Maybe its to improve / control charge temperature.

You're taking cold air from a box near the headlamp that could hold a filter..and then running it over the back the engine and then bringing it back to an inch away from where it came out the original box.

It being a turbo inlet air temps are probably a bit less critical given it will be heated by the turbo then cooled at the intercooler but to my eye it could just turn left from the first box and go straight to the turbo. Perhaps it's anti-french driving engineering to ensure no water and dust can ever get in the inlet regardless of the filters condition or presence...

Looks like a later version of the 2012 C3 1.6 Picasso set up, that I used to own. Though I didn't try swimming with it.;)

My wife literally floated our DS3 with the same 1.6 diesel..looking at this set up I now understand how this happened.

To be fair you could float this as well looking at it normally all the coils etc are covered by a panel and the air filter is at the height of the drivers chest.

That's the thing about PSA Stellantis the sheer level of parts bin raiding means there's a huge amount of commonality and the induction routing on this 1.2 petrol is very similar to the 1.6d and they use the same intercooler placement and routing as well...makes it easier to produce both versions.

Are you sure it’s not more like this with the blue being cold air and the red being the post turbo, charged air going down to the inter cooler and round to the back intake ports

Don't think so as that would put the intercooler before the Turbo but obviously you can't see that on the picture. The pipe coming out of turbo bends back down to behind the front bumper then comes back from the intercooler to the inlet ports down the other side of the engine.
