I hope your feeling better, or at least diagnosed and treatment planned.

Best wishes.

Sounds good so far.
My phone is on all night, so shout if assistance needed.

Not felt too great the last week..

So decided a trip to Hospital was in order

Called their switchboard to ask advice..

So transferred to 111
an hour and a half later.. the GP on call said next time dont waste time just go to A+E

Ahh well Im here now.. and gave my mums old Merc a trip out :)

Hope you’re ok!

For future reference don’t bother ringing the hospital for advice as unless you’ve got the mobile number of your own specialist then getting through to someone who can give that advice isn’t normally going to happen and you’ll get a receptionist who will tell you to ring 111, these days everyone will tell you to ring 111 first. You can do the 111 process online and you might get a more accurate answer if you’re reading the questions and giving the answers yourself. In any case, if you want any advice drop me a DM always happy to help if I can, geographically not near enough to offer any other help

Thanks both :)

Left the hospital at midnight

Had been back indoors for about 20 minutes.
Got a 'follow.up' call from 111

Just to see where-when I was treated

Very good.. but TBH if I hadnt travelled anywhere I might not have been so receptive to a call at 00.50

Anyway no major issues spotted.. so just got to remember the grey hairs are there to tell me to slow.up a little ;)

Noise outside of excess shuffling as neighbour from down the road faffs to park his car in a space large enough for a bus. Still parks facing up the road, so every journey starts by driving further up, to turn around. (Cul-de-sac). Manoeuvring with a warm engine uses significantly less fuel than with a cold engine, so turn around when you get somewhere, not as you leave.

Seems he's been to get coffee. Two disposable cups from the Costa 500yds away.

Cheaper to buy a kettle. We already have electricity and running water here.

Aye, this has been a bit of a wonder to me from time to time. Each to their own, obviously coffee shop coffee does taste nice, but I used to witness people in the streets holding their chosen beverage in a cardboard cup along with a goodie in a brown bag held out in front of them like some sort of prize or something to show off :D Gone are the days of carrying a flask and a home made sarnie. Never been one to eat on the hoof myself, I like to sit inside near a window and people watch, but that’s just me. I’ve known some acquaintances in the past who would have a bought coffee and goodie everyday, this would be costing thirty quid and more a week.

This sounds like a bit of a rant :D really just making an observation. ;)

I mentioned, a while ago, about our new neighbour who has come to live in the flats across the road from us. On that occasion it was concerning his flat tyre nightmare when I assisted him with undoing the "super tight" wheel nuts and then subsequently took his wheel/tyre for repair when we discovered the spare was the wrong one for the car - which he'd only recently bought - as it's centre bore was too small to go over the centre of the hub.

He was very grateful for my help and we've become friends so I was sad for him when I noticed his flashers seem to randomly start flashing when the car is parked. This is often the case when I look out of my bedroom window first thing in the morning. When he "blips" the key fob it seems to unlock the car and he gets in and drives away. I'm waiting for a knock on my door because he has a flat battery!

Then this morning I noticed him "blip" the car as he walked towards it, try to open the driver's door but it wouldn't open and he then opened the O/S rear door, reached in and opened the driver's door from the inside. Obviously the driver's door lock is not triggering with the remote - maybe a broken wire? - Think he's probably regretting swapping his old, but trusty, Fiesta for this Clio.

Also, last night, the Clio was the centre of attention when two police officers rolled up in a van, went into the flats and reemerged with this chap (my new friend) and closely examined the N/S front lower bumper panel. A short conversation ensued before the police got back in their van and my new friend went back into the flats. I wouldn't be so crass as to go over and closely examine his car but there's nothing visible from our living room window - wonder if he'll mention it to me? Mrs J is absolutely bursting with curiosity. Our street is a very quiet environment with most of us being long term residents and pretty much all friends. In the 35+ years we've lived here I think I've seen a police car in the street maybe two or three times - lots of "curtain twitching" was in evidence!

My guess is that he's accused of a 'hit & run' from a minor parking contact. Damage would suggest guilty, no damage suggests wrongly accused.
You'll have to sneak across in the dead of night, with the excuse you were investigating the random flashing.
Do let us know.

Saw my dad walking to the local shop on my lunchtime walk...

Greeted me with "Cars broken again"...my response may have been "Have you not set fire to it yet?"

So last time I posted about this, the car had a rattling rear suspension...which was fixed with a pair of new coils 220 odd quid it worked out at...

Then came the MOT and service...600 odd quid as the oem exhaust had finally let go at 16 years old. Also the swimming pool in the boot was traced to a perished seal which was also replaced. Front discs and pads had pitted badly due to extended periods of standing (it does 1500 miles a year) plus the service and mot costs.

Now the power steering appears to have let go for the second time...

Now he can afford to repair it and is but ffs he could also afford to spend 5-6k on a tidy used car about half the age of this one and drop this thing in the sea.

It never works for more than about a fortnight at the moment. Garage did tell him 2 years ago..get rid of it because it's going to start costing proper money but no.

Do let us know.

The car's been parked up the road a bit for the last couple of days - if you don't have a hard standing in front of your house parking is first come first served - but last night it was in the layby opposite our front window so this morning, with the sun shining on it, you could plainly see quite a large indented scrape running down the front N/S door. Still nothing obvious from this distance on the front bumper though? The door damage is what you might expect from having turned too sharply whilst going negotiating a tight situation etc or someone beside the car leaving a supermarket type parking space on a tight lock and gouging it with their front bumper. - who knows? Funny I didn't notice it when the Boys In Blue were here the other evening though.

Applied for another Job.

Still with the same company but bit further up the order again.

It was available when I applied for my current job but at the time I didn't feel I had the experience to do it as I thought you needed to have done the job I have currently to understand what you were messing with although I did give it thought.

But the person who got it is going on maternity so there's 12 to 15 months of acting up available and decided to give it a go.

Tend to average a new department or role or job every 2 years since 2010 at this point so about due, keeps me out of trouble.

Not entirely sure I want the amount of responsibility but the wage does match it...:chin: and worst comes to the worst I do it for the maternity period decide its not for me and go back to what I do now.

We shall see...

On the way back from work this evening I had the realisation that there had been
'Advance Notice' signs out for this week.. cable laying : disruption

I had forgotten.. and its a proper bottleneck at the time of day

Too late now.. will just wait and see

Approaching junction

Queued traffic waiting to turn right..
I pull up behind the queue.. waiting for a Green light

Ewww.. some naff plasticky box in front

Far Eastern.. Ssanyong..or similar

ITS A NEW 'LANDIE' !!!

I let a few cars out of that sideroad... just to obscure my view of
'the New Defender'

Impressed.. maybe not..

No roadworks though (y)

They're not cheap, but they're surprisingly capable bits of kit!

The best thing about this thing is clearly the intelligent placement of the rear screen blocker. I would love to discuss that with its designer. I know I moan about my Panda 4x4 and its silly space saver, but I suspect its likely to be less irritating than the wheel placement on the the LandRover. Why are they allowed to destroy rear visibility in that way I can't fathom.

You realise its probably surrounded by cameras, i seem to think there are at least one if not two cameras mounted just on the roof looking down so you get an amazing view of everything that’s behind the car i think the rear view mirror can display video from those cameras.

I don’t think anyone who buys one will be cursing the spare wheel

Anybody who drives on motorways nowadays has probably spotted a few lorries that have 'lost' their cab mirrors

Mercedes just have a black 'strip'.. no doubt full of kit..
Protruding from the cab roof :)

Some thoughts.
A through view is not mandated. (Vans?)
People will prefer the 'style' over safety.
Many owners don't know what the rear view mirror is for anyway.
The view will be blocked by kids or 'lifestyle' equipment.

Having "graduated" from bikes I still prioritise the door mirrors over the interior mirror. A van with no interior mirror = no worries. A car with broken door mirror = OMG. It's too easy to look, see nothing and move out. Then too late realise there's no mirror.

Good point. ...... but, Just something else to go wrong........ and only as reliable as the fuse that keeps the whole thing on line.

We are being grumpy here!
