My Uncle used to work for Seagrams and to my dads delight kept him topped up with Seagrams Navy 101 proof rum. I nevr got to try it.My old local used to do Pussers Rum, but I think the genuine original was way stronger in the past.

That's very similar to my way of doing things. Unfortunately the fly in my ointment is Mrs J who thinks I'm being silly and likes to park as near to the store entrance as she can manage. On the few occasions she's been with me and I've managed to park away from the nutters, we've returned to the car only to find another, often big SUV, parked right next to us. Why do people do this? plenty of vacant spaces but they still park right against us? illogical or what?
Me too, but some years back I parked my large white Renault Laguna at the far end of a car park some 50 yards away from anything else. Returning I was greeted with massive damage. The garage wanted to cut 1/4 of the car away replacing the rear quarter and C pillar. Door also wrecked. Someone must have been REALLY TRYING. No note as you would expect. It took me a month to find the responsible person... I visited every house in a 15 mile radius! In the end the idiot actually parked next to me in the same car park! I was waiting when he ansMrs idiot returned. I had already worked out the make andmodel of car from recovvered debris. It was the wife trying denial. He caved quite quickly and itcwas settled by insurance but that would be getting on 25 years ago. Cost of my repair was £2500 Im still paranoid, especially as Noop is irreplacable. vHe has many extras chosen by me including CBC which makes it impossible to replace even if a very very low miles car wascavailable. Ive nurtured him from new and no expense avoided in service and maintenance. Hes kept spotless, garaged and driven only by me or mrs PN (Hardly ever). If he was damaged and written off I would be well miffed. Thankfully more people show respect round here than dont. Pandas fit well inside standard parking bays too so other behemoth drivers have spacethey neglect to give normal people..
This comes from our basic instincts, 'safety in numbers'. If you are walking through the town centre, alone, on a dark evening, you will feel uncomfortable passing a group of youths who appear to be a little the worse for drink. If you are accompanied, even by someone unable to fight, you still feel less vulnerable.

I now often photograph the vehicles next and opposite to mine in any multi storey and indeed other car parks as we park up. One good use for mobile tech! Sad you need to do this. I can remember right back to 1963 when my dad had a new Vauxhall Victor, one of the first Type F models if I have it right. It was in the market square in March (Cambs). On returning to the car it was scratched!!! Low and behold a note under the wiper with an apology and the name and address to get it sorted. Why I wonder has the decency gone from society? May be 'you can smack little Jimmy for his appalling behaviour' and body cams on every police officer, and all the over bearing political correctness that has not just, (rightly) modified some types of offensive (sometimes unintended) behaviour we used to see and do, to the extent its just plain bloody stupid??? I know you can debate this for hours, and that great change was required back then, and still is in places, BUT its clear to me at least that the baby got well and truly half drowned stuck in the plug hole while the bath water ran out! That memory of someone doing the right thing went in deep. Doing the right thing in life is fundamental to getting life right. Common practice and even teaching is self servitute these days it seems.
My kids lost me aged about 5.... I have mild dyslexia, I have learned to live with it. If I take great care can get by fine. Annoying when you need to read things three times before some words appear as they are rather than something totally different. Its almost worse in the modern world as words flash up and disappear before you get it. My mother noticed the issues but as you say it wasnt really a thing back then so we were juut classed as thick. It manifests in words typed using keys on the wrong side of the keyboard and reversing pairs of letters... hence my posts are dreadful unless I re read them 3 or four times. Im compensated by learning fast. I never had to revise for exams, if something was passed on to me visually or verbally it always stuck unless I had no interest.
Im in a bad news as fiat are useless! I signed up for the uconnect at 54p and they charged me £8.99, for the bargain price I can unlock and lock my doors, precondition the car and flask the lights. Do not buy the fiat 600e red unless you want to speak to fiat often as the app is useless ans stops working all the time@ for £8.99 id exeect them to open the door for me, woth an umbrella today!Seeing as we have a happy version... and I'm having a crap day (like a few others on here)...

Its such a shame, another good looking Fiat is let down by bad service back up. There are enough warning signs on here to indocate the 600e needs a wide birth thoug and your psot is yet another one to add to reasos NEVER to buy a Stellantis product. The 600 is a car I could see me buying but based on the clear evidence on the forum its status as one of the most difficult to use and unreliable cars ever made is being firmly cemented. I would not want to be trying to sell one 5 or 6 years down the line as I suspect depreciation will be stupendous. If one of the many idiots at Fiat or STellantis read the car forums and repsonded I personally would have a heart attack and die. They clearly dont give even half a **** about their cistomers . I have had a few issues with my Fiats and have rung Fiat Customer Services on the 0800 number. I have to say that their response from Italy has been heavily customer oriented and I have had good even great results from this, especially when I have told them and sent picts of the 3 Fiats we had at the time. It might be worth a try and seeing if they will sort it out.
I do this with wallet and or keys once every other day. Ha ha. THAT's annoying. At least you didnt forget, and you dont do any thing demetia like. You just dropped them. Thats forgivable if annoying. I on the other hand worry its more serious. I have places to put specific things. If only I could stick to it. I read a leaflet on dementia yesterday. I tick ALL the boxes. But then im not much worse than I was 30 years ago lol. Nurse asked if I want the test. Im going to think about it for now.
Yup, my memory is absolutely atrocious. Think of something, climb the stairs but can't remember what it was when I get up there. Put tools down on a job, then can't find them when needed. And so on. Used to really worry me but now, most of the time, I just shrug and pick up an alternative. Never walk away without tracking it down though. Often have to go round wheel nuts more than once just to be sure!

What completely confused me with the computer was the use of quite adult terms and language - some of it "configuration", precipitation, Virocell, etc and instructions to look in certain sub files for homework. For a girl who is just 12 and just moved up from the "baby world" of primary school and with dyslexic problems? I couldn't figure out what they were wanting her to do with the computer let alone actually finding the homework itself. I think it's very good that they are using these devices and learning about them, but it's no good unless the pupil has a good grasp of how to use them.
