I'm not a fan of painted drums either, but would it not look weird with just the calipers painted? Might upgrade to rear disc too though

Painted my calipers blue today. Not the blue I was expecting, far much darker than I wanted but still, it's better than it was before!

Yeah I guess it is!
I used this stuff I found cheap on ebay. 250ml for £8.95, not bad I thought. Couple of pound cheaper than Halfords at least. Done both calipers with a good 3 coats and I don't think the level in the paint tin has even gone down! I'd say enough to do 2 cars front and back

Decided to do the drum brakes tomorrow aswell. Seeing as the colour turns out quite subtle it should look ago.
If I ever re-do mine I'll do them in that colour. I didn't actually mind painting them, the real hassle was wire brushing them to get a decent finish to paint on top of!
I know it's up to you, but I really don't like it when people paint their drums. It's just highlighting the fact that you have outdated brakes

Drums need to be black or silver if they are going to be painted, anything else and it just looks naff.

Yeah that's the main thing! I spent 10 minutes painting them but a good half hour at least each cleaning them!
I wouldn't say they're outdated, my car is years newer than my dads but his has disc's, just depends on the model. This is only a 1.2 after all. But I do see where you're coming from. It's not a very garish colour though, only up close can you tell its blue not black

This was with flash on aswell, they look pretty much black in real life
Yeah they look better black mate, that blue is quite dark.
Haven't read the other posts but dont paint them a light colour, I painted mine bright red to match the car, looked silly after a while.
I know drums are on slower cars, but outdated? My gf sister has an 11 plate corsa with drums but I thought thats because its only a 1.2.

Yeah I thought considering it's not a really bright blue I might aswell paint the drums. Looks better than they did before!
Yeah they're not outdated. It's because it's a smaller engined car. The brand new GP 1.2 still has rear drums.
