Outdated because it's old technology, they were both invented around the same time, but drums were used first until car makers realised the superiority of disc brakes.

Yes you still get drums on new cars, but that's because manufacturers want to lower the cost.

need to wrap the piece of metal behind the grill in black or something so it doesn't stand out when looking head on.

Just worked out a little information for those who are curious. Putting 17's on from 15's, reading at 30mph will be 31.29mph and at 60mph will be 62.59mph.

Sometimes - totally depends what tyres you have. Most 17s get wrapped in 205/40s as they're more common thus cheaper than the 205/45s which should go on to keep the outer circumference the same (standard tyre size on sporting). ;)
