I have been toying with the idea of haveing an oil pressure gauge and a volt gauge for some time now, But finally got round to buying some gauges and makeing a custom gauge pod/houseing just need to sort out the oil pressure sender (try and find out where on earth to fit the ruddy thing i meen!!!) Its not fully finished as it needs some trim makeing up. Hope you approve :D

Ever heard of the term "you cant polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter" ?
A lot of puntos dont even come with rev counters or even a temp gauge and this one is gonna be rolling with an oil pressure and battery volt gauge . Puntos are cheap cars why do people want to chuck so much money at them? Every time you think of an idea to mod it put the money in ya sky rocket and save it towards a better, newer car.

+1

I would take issue with polishing a turd but the point is spot on. Basic Puntos are just that and will never be more than simple transport. The "better" models can be good to live with but are so often abused you can easily get stitched up.

i have got a better model of punto due to haveing the rev counter and proper warter temp, electric windows central locking hight ajustable steering wheel, compaired to my mates old punto iv got the way better spec one :D

The oil and volt gauge has been an idea for quite a while now so i thort since my punto has lots of mods y not add them i thinks its a good idea to have them (y)

Its your car mate do what you like :)
I would just put the money towards a better car

how much do you have to spend on a "better" car to get a oil and volts gauge
my car was £22k new 4 years ago and it don't have them and is also no where near as fun to drive as a punto

old triumphs i had years back had volts meter, was pretty handy in the winter, you could make sure battery was fully charged before switching off, so you new car would start again in the morning

I like it, it's what makes the car unique, and that is the whole point of modding a car, making it different from any other car of that model, kinda like a "I was here" for when you give it to someone else

Most mods have no use but to make the car personalised, so the several above criticising you for it being pretty pointless, don't really have a valid point, MOST cars are made for a primary purpose, to get you from A to B, using the term "turd" or whatever falls flat as I could just state "some people like to spend loads on a piece of turd from an exotic animal, that maybe smells of some rare fruit...others just take any ole dung from a farm which does the same job for less"

Mini-rant over, enjoy the rest of your day

Just like the oil pressure warning light, a low reading on the oil pressure gauge tells you the engine is f***ed. It wont save your engine from damage but it does fill the hole in your new auxiliary gauge panel.

Far more useful information would be low coolant level and low oil level (not pressure), but as far as I know these are not available. So we have to put up with opening the bonnet.

As for something cheap to fit and fiddle about with - why not(?), but don't kid yourself its actually doing anything useful.
