Haven't listened to pink Floyd for quite a while, listening to Comfortably Numb just now and marveling at David Gilmore's guitar! Probably move on to some Tim Pierce stuff after that, I just love listening to his explanations and demos.
Edit. Just slotted in the Byrds - "wasn't born to follow" complete with a clip from Easy Rider! That's my era man! You need to listen on a good stereo or headphones, at high volume, to hear the solo properly in all it's psychedelic glory.
Earliest memories I have of "seriously" listening to pop music was listening to Elvis singing Blue Suede Shoes at the farm next door with George, the farmer's son, who later himself used to sing around the local hotels and hostelries. A short while later i heard the Carl Perkins version which i think I actually prefer.
