Hi all

Yesterday I changed the coolant pipe on my wife’s 2010 500 1.2 as it has rusted and was leaking. This is the pipe that goes into the block behind the manifold.

After putting the rest of the car together today I can notice coolant is now leaking from the cam cover.

Is there a chance I could have knocked the inside of the water pump when fitting the coolant pipe and broke part of the water pump seal. Has anyone else had this happen?

Tia 😁

I can't find a ton of info on your model year Fiat, but if it is the same 1.2L engine as in the Fiat Panda sold in Mexico, then no, you didn't knock the water pump loose. It is held onto the block with four fasteners (three bolts and one nut) and [usually] stuck on there with a layer of silicone sealant (to where I've carefully had to use a deadblow hammer to knock them loose after removing the bolts). It's more likely a case of the water pump being the weakest 'link' in the cooling system after replacing other parts, and it's more likely the weep hole in the pump than the seal around the edge in my experience. What is the mileage on the vehicle, and have the service intervals been kept up with?

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me please I’m at the desperate stage. We put our 2016 Fiat 500x in to have the pulleys changed as there’s a terrible rattling and we’ve been told the water pump isn’t working either and needs to be replaced but the small pipe coming out of the pump the mechanic thinks is the coolant pipe is completely rotted and if he takes it off it’ll crumble. Hes called a few places including Fiat and they don’t even have this part listed and said the car is done, unless we can source this part for him it’s the only way we can get the car fixed, we’re at our wits end as it’s been one thing after another, the worst car we’ve ever had. If I attach a picture could someone please help me, any advice would be appreciated.
