Ok, please only take the **** after any advice. I have bought some dodgy neons to fit in the boot of my car. THese neons are supposed to wire up to the cigarette lighter. However, I cant be @rsed to run a wire down the full length of the car if they can be directly attached to my tail lights.
Can this be done or will it burn out the wire?
(neons are 12v)

Thanks in advance, (now u can take the P)
;)

i would. . .

i would prob run em straight off the interior light in the boot. then they'll come on when you open the boot too!

Good thinking Batman!

However, there may also be the possibility of me placing them under the back seats and would therefore want them on at other times. Tail lights or not?

Re: Good thinking Batman!

Depends on the power consumption I guess. Towbar electrics work ok off the rear lights, but they are only small bulbs. It should not take much effort to run a wire from the back of the cigar lighter under the sill trim (pull sharply forward after removing the srew at the front)......
Stop being lazy.
Or
Please do and melt the harness/pop a fuse....

amp power?

do you have any ICE in your car? if so run a wire from the power to your amp?

re

if there where i thin you mean it would prob be easier to take a wire from the back of the cigarett lighter past the gear stick, hanbrake etc then under the foot of carpet between fron seat and back in the middle! and that would give you the opportunity to put a switch somewhere in that middle bit, by the electric mirror controls or summink?

Re: re

Wimmy the way I did it was to tap in to the interior boot light.

The neons only draw a very small anount of current so I would expect you could run quite a few all form that one pos n neg in the boot.

Ta!

Thanks all. We'll see later on which I decide!
:)

Done (well, 1 of them)

Fitted! Only bought the one as I wasnt sure on where to put it. I decided to put it on the bottom of the back seat which gives a nice glow to the rear front seats. Wired it to the cigarette lighter lights running the wire down the plastic moulding on the bottom of the door.

As it was wired to the light on the ciggy lighter, it comes on when I switch my lights on. Looks pretty good and the other will be bought 2moro. I'll just wire that one to the other!

Thanks for the different ideas lads!

Re: Done (well, 1 of them)

Careful with where you have wired it to. from what you have said, it looks like you have wired it to the cigar lighter 'light', not the power feed to the actual lighter. As the current is low draw this should not be a problem, but if you use the other +ve wire in there, that is the actual feed to the lighter, and will hold more current....

Re: Re: Done (well, 1 of them)

Now you have it sorted can I take the **** now as per your opening line????

Of all people

Of all people Nige, you were the least I expected to take the ****!

sarcasm at its best

Wiring a fish to my lighter is a lot cheaper (and better for my health) than smoking anyway!

Keep it coming Nige!
