Vauxhall Astra coupe - what do you think??

I was thinking of a new Astra coupe a few years ago, I went to look at one, sat in it and got straight out. Very dull interior and extremely uncomfortable to sit in, it just felt wrong.
From the outside they are pretty nice when lowered and with a tidy body kit on but standard are not too bad. i'd give it a 3/10 (n)

My bro used to have a silver Astra Coupe Turbo, only thing that was annnoying was it sits quite low as standard so the little splitter on the front was always taking knocks.

I'd say after a 1.2 any of them wold be fast in comparison, it's nice if you have more ponies but some folks just want to get to about without loosign their licence so maybe the turbo would be a bad idea plus the temptation to race CTR's would be too much!

I don't understand why people are slagging Vauxhalls off so much. Granted, I personally haven't owned one, but my father has had 2 Vauxhalls and has put well over 250K between them. The Vectra he has now has got is approaching 130K and apart from the same engine sensor going twice, a couple of dash bulbs going and the water pump, its only ever needed servicing and wear and tear parts, e.g. exhaust, its been a brilliant car. He gets 40mpg from it (1800cc petrol) and its been a real workhorse. Honestly. It starts every time, takes anything you throw at it. The seats are still solid with no rips. The driver's seat shows a little wear, but certainly not 130K's worth. It's in better condition than my cinq driver's seat in all honesty and the Vectra has done well over 40K miles more than my cinq.

Taking your age and experience with cars into account, I think it's an excellent choice, I was happy enough going up from a 1.2 Punto to a 1.4 Punto, so you should feel the difference.

The Hyundai Coupe is a bit of a secret to many but is regarded as the best Hyundai make, should be relaible yet cheap, well worth a test drive.

Take it you mean the newer shaped one not the 1.5 turbo they did years back?

The new ones aren't that bad tbh my Mum looked at a few before going for a Coop :)

BTW has anyone mentioned the Astra Coupe designd by Bertone (I think or maybe just the convertables  )

The hyundai (latest model) always gets good reviews, it's a handsome coupe and the V6 sounds good although it's no fiat coupe. Evo have one on long term and they have fitted an expensive LSD, and apparently it's quite a car.
The celica will be reliable but dull, also you hav to rev the tits off them to get anywhere as the torque is negligible.

What's your budget? I'd be looking at (besides a coupe) japs selection: Celica GT-4, Classic shape Scooby WRX, Honda Integra Type-R, skyline R-33.

How about an Astra GSI (MK 4) my mate's got one in blue and it's so much better looking than the coupe.

You've got the focus RS as well  Loads of great second hand buys that are 10x better than the astra coupe.
