Re: UT Restoration, New Thread. UPDATED 03/06/08 Box Off & Alloy Fuel Cell Fitting!

well, sorry for the lack of updates! i have been working on it when i can, but my laptops broke and i cant get on the internet to upload photos!!!! so i can only do it when im at work with no much on!

so here goes! the catch up from the last update lol

over a few nights, i managed to drill holes (more holes lol) in the floor and fit the return hose to the tank in securly and neatly.

UT_0211.jpg

UT_0231.jpg

i was well pleased with this, as i think it looks proper tidy! hate things not being neat!

also, got the hoses from the tank to the fuel filter/pump ready. this is the one next to the return with nothing on the end, just a connector ready to screw the fuel filter on before the pump.

UT_0251.jpg

after that, i had to wait for some more parts from Goodridge, so i started working out the filler cap and pipework to the tank. It should look something like this when done, but with red silicone hoses.

A couple of nights later, i picked up my new release bearing on route to my garage (not that i needed a new one but at least i know its all new then with a new clutch etc) and i started off by fitting my AP clutch :)
UT_029.jpg

the clutch look manky in the pic! but its fine in reality lol

UT_030.jpg

on it goes!
UT_031.jpg

after that, i couldnt fit a gearbox as ive not had it rebuilt yet, so i decided to fit my uno turbo rear corner mudflaps to the rear. now, ive had these for years and never got round to fitting them so god knows why i just decided lol
They need some back to black on them, but then they'll look as good as new :D
UT_032.jpg

A few days later and my Goodridge order arrived!

A bulkhead fitting complete with nut, 2x hoses finishers (for where i cant use threaded connectors), a goodridge fuel filter which will sit just before the fuel pump (which i'm yet to order!) and the double ended threaded connector to join the 2.

UT_034.jpg

so i cracked on and finished the return line under the bonnet too :D Mounted the bulkhead connector, and made up the braided line from the connector to the back of the FSE fuel regulator (as u can see this is a puch on fitting hence i used one of the hose finishers to make it look tidy!)

more to come when parts arrive etc!

hehe, does look good doesnt it!

What turbo is that?

its a Garrett T25 Hybrid.

right, not much to post, but i dug out my spare plenum to get the fuel rail off to send off to be modded with a -6 threaded end so i can fit my goodridge connectors straight on.

heres the plenum
UT_039.jpg

i then noticed it had an extra switch on it to mine???? anyone shed light on this?
UT_040.jpg

my current one
UT_041.jpg

anyway, i then stripped the fuel rail off
UT_042.jpg

here u see the current standard connection point for the standard fiat fitment. This will be cut off where my fingers are and a new -6 Threaded bit welded on properly. This will allow me to fit a 90deg -6 Goodridge connector directly onto the fuel rail which will be perfect! no messing about ;)

it's only now i'm realising that the uno has entered the "proper race modification" stage with the modded fuel rails!

Good Work duncan!!!:slayer:

That switch is a "automatic engine cut off " if anyone should drive the car on less than full throttle it automatically cuts the ignition and brings the car to a halt until the next time its driven "properly"
You probably wont need it.............................. You NEVER drive less than full throttle:)

Hope this helps?!?!

Dunc, you'll know, but from the pictures I cant see a vent valve on the fuel tank, without one you get a vacuum and fuel flow problems, also if the suns out the vapour pressure in the tank can become quite large - I fond that out when I removed my OE tank but had a cap on the vent - it forced significant amounts of fuel out of the fuel pump/return connections. Easiest plce to put one would be on the filler neck.

How have you found the fittings to make up - its one of my least fav jobs - though I think the goodridge were easier then the aeroquip.

Hi rich, hehe, well spotted :) But, if u look at the tank, see the 180degree coming off the top of the tank? well that braided line runs through a hole in the boot floor to the outside of the car and vents out there. Nicely spotted tho ;) It also has a roll over valve so nothing but vapour can get out there :D

as for making them, well..............................AGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! rings a bell lol!

bit of a pain, not keen, takes ages, but look soooooooo bloody good when done :D

I've not used Aeroquip, just goodridge. Have u got any pics of urs youve made?

my FSE Bullet F1 filter and MORE Goodridge connectors had arrived YAY!

the quality of the filter is amazing, and fully reuseable with a changable filter inside the body. These are made for and used by, touring car teams!
