Stripes and Speakers

Hi, Iv'e got some kenwood speakers on the back shelf of my punto and i was just wondering if it matters whether they have got a box underneath or not... if i do need some where can i get them?
Also i wanted to know, do alot of puntos have a red stripe on the side inside the black plastic strip?? (ive got a Mk1 1996 fiat punto 55 sx if that matters)
sorry i dont know how to start my own thread so i posted on here...

Hey. Can you explain this "box" you speak of underneath.. Do you mean like a box that the speakers are built into? And I think that the red stripe only came with the very first punto GT's, which I got mine from.

He means like an enclosure.An to answer the queston well people will say you need to put them in an enclosure if you have a sub in the boot, to stop the speakers getting blown by the sub, but tbh i havent, mine are fine stll and have been in for 8months.

first of all, good thread hi-jack

secondly, you would be best to make a box under any speaker in the parcel shelf - espeically if you have a sub... make these boxes yourself from some mdf.

this protects to speaker in the shelf from the air preasure the sub produces. if you didnt have a protection box and also had a sub - the sub will pretty much destroy the speak in the shelf prematurely.

my advice to you is to take out the speakers from the rear shelf, put them in the front doors and leave it at that... have you ever been to a gig and the band are playing behind you? if not, then put them in the front doors.

I agree i think that parcel shelf speakers are a bit pointless as you drive the car from the front seat so put some good speakers in the front doors.

I wouldn't do it, or just don't go over the top lol.
I'd just change the back one for a white one or/and make the front one smaller and place it in a corner of the bumper and smooth out the original plate space?

I'll most likely be fitting them tomorrow buddy, i'll get my Dads car out of garage and put mine in so it's warm etc then I can put them on as it uses that sticky double sided pads and not drilled into the car
Lots of contrevercy over the legality of them in my house tonight. :bang:

are they just the standard coloured plates but pressed, putting them on with double sided tape looks better imo rather than holes in the plate
