At the risk of sounding like the old fart I am, you start learning to drive AFTER you have passed your test.

Anything before that is learning how to pass your test.

I agree 100%
Its just funny, its exactly what my grandad said to me when I passed

Be good to see you at meets without relying on your dad to drive though Dan :)

Ahh balls. Headgasket is leaking oil.
Old picture, please excuse the white writing... The circled part is where oil keeps collecting

My Dad got me it. He's in engineering trade and knows his stuff, not sure what make/grade it is but it will be decent stuff.
Last changed around 1.5 months a go and car has only been used since Tuesday...
What is it then? I think I need to get some better pictures tbh. Thanks for your help SPD.

It's giving me no mechanical problems which people say come with the headgasket going too.
We'll most likely have the cover off and everything at the weekend as the belt needs loosening ever so slightly too, makes a horrible squeel when starting up but then goes

Not how it works, usually.

How much oil are you using?

Pop the cam belts covers off and get tore in with the jizer or gunk.

Then revisit after a wee run.

i've just been outside and taken the belt cover off, checked the oil, oil level is fine, haven't needed to top it up sinse we changed the oil last time. maybe a bit but the level is bang on where it should be. Water is very low, remember topping that up sunday...
I'm thinking the substance is just dirty water and not oil at all.
regarding the water low, any chance it's to do with me having my heater on hot like everyday?

It will be a tiny leak from up top somewhere, but a little oil can go a long way, so only start to worry if you have more oil when you next dip it, or you have lost lots.

An older car will use a bit of oil when driving. Anything less than 1000 miles per litre needs looking at. Otherwise, relax and enjoy your newly won freedom.

dan my car gets leak in the same place! i dont know the reason i just let it build up and then wipe it off every week and top the oil up..
