Technical Unwanted auto wipers

Italian electrics. My rear wipe does when I use the front wipers with reverse gear..... sometimes on the 2019 car hardly ever on the 2014 car and every time as it should on the 2011 car. Yesterday the hazards flashed when I switched off the 2019 car. I am afraid I have stopped worrying about it. Occasionally I give them all a stern talking to and threaten a scrap yard may be seen when reading their life line. Sometimes I wonder if the wipers are in fact actually connected to the ECU at all.

It is possible that you have a faulty wiper motor with a mis positioned park switch or may be a loose switch or connection. If the wipers work OK and don't respond to just touching the switch, this would be my suspicion. Its also possible this could be a loose connection on the ignition key switch or columnstalks that could respond to pushing the connectors. Be careful if removing the column shroud. The lower part will come off fairly easily but the upper part is fixed by a screw that needs a lot of dismantling to access!

The motor will usually have a little sensor to know the position of the wipers when parked, it may be the sensor is playing up or the wipes just miss the parked position so next time you start the car it parks them again when it checks everything on start up.

I’d check the scuttle for water and dirt, it may be you’d need to replace the wiper motor to fix it, but if everything is working otherwise then I’d just put up with it
