My father has brought a set of alloys for his car, but they have all come with different brand tyres and tread patterns. Ive always though you have to have the same tread pattern on the same axel. Am i correct?

Have a look at the pic below, if im wrong can you advise me which tyres go together please.

Many thanks (y)

for an MOT the tyres only need to be the same size on both sides of the same axle.

however, having odd tyres will mean you have different grip on each wheel, which will have a negative impact on handling, may make the car pull to one side under braking and acceleration, plus you can expect uneven wear rates. basically its crap.

yeah ideally you should have matching pairs on the axle to provide the same performance. but legally you can have anything, depending on what his driving likes he may never notice the difference. i personallty would at least get the same tyres on the driving wheels. as from past expereine of changing only one tyre on a front axle front wheel drice car left me with some interesting pull aways in damp conditions lol
