Technical twin carbs???

To further what Oldschool has said, i know of integrale EVO2 owners with post 92 cars which had cats fitted as standard who do not have to have Cats as they can prove the engine was manufactured before 92 as there is a loop hole that allows this, I think that’s what Jamie was getting at.

I concur with emissions being related to when the engine was produced and the standard it was approved to, however it only applies to the OEM - Original Equipment Manufacturer. The OEM has to get prior agreement to fit these engines and the engines must be produced prior to the new emission cut off date.

What that means is that you (the owner) can't fit an older engine and expect to get excemptions at MoT time.

Sorry Pete, but it is not correct that the cat is a legal requirement. The legal requirement is not to exceed the post 1992 emission levels (after various debates we looked it up in our MOT guide lines). Admittedly it is not easy to do this without cats. Still it can be done.

I was sure if a cat was fitted as standard to a car at the factory after 1992, you're not allowed to remove it - could be wrong, though, I guess...

Chaos - yep, the 2.0 was an O-series, wasn't it? Was just wondering if the same stepper motor thing was fitted to try and control emissions.

I'm sure I read just recently in the "lets talk fiat" section about being able to fit the inlet manifold from a A series engine or something on the fire engine, if this is the case then you could get an aftermarket manifold for twin SU's carbs, I had this set up on my original MG Metro and it has a 1275cc engine which is comparable in size to the 1242cc.

On looking at this it doesn't look poss, but I'm sure a nice manifold could be made for such an application cos how nice do these look!

or twin 1 3/4 SU's Mmmmmm http://www.minisport.com/classic-mini-shop/products/mini-sport-performance-engine-tuning/fuelling-air-filters/su-carburettors/twin-su-carburettors-and-kits/twin-1-3-4-su-carburettors-product.html

You'd have to make up some form of adaptor - the A series heads have only 2 inlet ports which split inside the head itself to feed the 4 cylinders.
