Tuning turbo time!

Tuning turbo time!

Also, here is a major difference between you and me, if that happened to me i would have spat my dummy out and left it for the day lol

LOL I had no choice! it was the gfs bday the next day and we planned to go out. hence why i wanted to fix it (it was stinking the car out)

Sh!t would of hit the fan if i told her i fecked my car up so we can go out hahaha

Anyways.... fitted new tyres yestrerday... so now i have matching wheels again.... wooo.... and a little more grip :yum:

gave the car a bit of hammering(to bed the tires in ) the engine really seems to be getting smoother and better the more miles i put on it (it was a brand new engine)

Did have a brown trouser moment.... I was on boost and let off then when i replied throttle the engine had no power and sounded like a fart.

Lets just say I instantly looked out in the mirror hoping not to see smoke (thinking of munkuls miss-hap and my "dodgy" pistons)

managed to limp home and today found the plastic on the 16v ht leads, one had a massive crack along it! but random but nothing at all bad :)

Oh, so you use your Cento normally like "daily driver" ?

Yes, me too, so what? Moreover, I still feel like owning a better car than all the saloons that try to overtake me on my way to work :D

Ye, that's really ok, I have a track only bike and it's sad to use it once a month or two :( But Craig's car is something like almost everyday engine in, engine out, engine in, engine out, 8v, 16v, bigger turbo, etc, continous works and that's fun, but for me it could be hard to find time to use it when I have hands always on the motor :D

Me too, want to build a 1.2 turbo for everyday running like you :) :yum:

p.s. also, me too, when thinking what money I must spend for a newer car (5000-10 000 euro), not always I think that I want a new one, even if sometimes my Punto pisses me really off :D

if properly setup there's no reason not to drive a car like craigs daily.. My turbo cinq was a daily and prob one of the most reliable cars i ever owned. The sei hasn't been a daily ever but there's no reason why it couldn't be at all, it was before i owned it - i'm just greedy and have many cars :p

Although i'm well tempted to sell a few and get a 16vt cinq - i miss driving a cinq, the sei is just not the same. And my NA cinq feels so slow its ridiculous.. Its a great little car but i'm pretty sure my 2.7 tonne van is just as quick in a straight line - that and i drive the punto gt regularly going back in a NA cinq just seems like slow motion lol.

hahaha exactly. when I was at college I used to drive it over 35 miles round trip every day. and to be fair it was very good on fuel on the motorway. I put this down to the engine having a much lower level of turn when off boost (the year before I what a P75 engine with loads of tweek and high compression and it was crap on fuel.)

I can't have another car because tax and insurance is just to high to afford to have one car I'd only use a couple of times a month.

on the other hand I have to many bikes but bikes are easy to store and tax and insurance is just a fraction of the cost of cars.

hahaha tell me about it blu.... I had to mot a cinq before it was a 1.1 but with a bigger throttle body and chip.... was much quicker then standard but God it felt slow to me. lol and without the turbo and its kick up the arse it just felt flat and boring

I remember back when i drove the cinq everyday, i always saw a modded yarius on way home and the cinq just couldn't keep up - Oh the joy the day i bought the seiT lol.

The 15" wheels on the cinq don't help none though, it feels slower than a standard sporting despite being a 1242, even if it is only an 8v it should be faster than a normal one lol.. Sounds epic though :)

Blu already knows about this but...

Might be selling the cinq! (dont lock my thread or delete this as its NOT an add)

The running cost have kinda got to a point where a can get a much faster/nicer/better handling car that is bog standard and reliable.

Im not sure yet but as mentioned in the last few posts its a car i use every day and soon I feel I need a car I can just drive and not worry so much about.

Soon I wont have time on the weekend and such to spend fixing things when/if they go wrong and dont want the car ending up rotting away and I dont have time/space/money to keep it as a car for weekends/event (who does!)

The outcome will either be the car been sold as a hole for good money (im sure everyone here will agree the time and effort spent on this car is worth it)

If not it will be broken down (90% of the major parts have already had people say they want.... not just since this idea came up but over the years:) )

Really sad to hear that Craig :( Although I fully share your view, I've been thinking this direction more and more over the last year myself. More so once my distance to work (luckily temporarly) got much bigger.

Anyhow, I can see Cinq and Seis are slowly ending  One of the most beatiful Seis in PL with a t-jet in a good progressing stage 2 got broken into parts and sold on spot for similar reasons like yours. It all went into good hands, but the car is now scattered all over the country.

Its a point everyone with a fast cento gets to eventually i think. After a while it gets quite old how much looking after them can cost for what is at the end of the day a car that is quite fast but not really fast. Its not so bad when you can have it as a toy car - but i don't think i'd still have the SeiT if i only had 1 car.

As i said y'day fella - I think its worth the sorta money you said but still can't see anyone paying that much for a cinq (I would if i had the space, money & time to drive it lol). Would bring a tear to my eye seeing this thing broken up but again your right that it'd be just as painful to see it turn into a ebay slag.

I still think you should just lend me it until you miss it and i'll give it back lol

Sad stuff. I see where you're coming from, but to me it seems a shame that they go before the "interesting" stuff is dealt with -- the handling!

One seller of a fair few modified Centos reports that Pistonheads is a good place to sell.
Ive done a lot to the handling and mine must be one of the best (well compared to standard its a different car!) there is not much more i can do without getting deep into the chassis which i dont want to do as its far to easy to make things worse...

Thanks for the piston heads tip... ill most likely get it on there as its free.

shame to hear this, but I completely understand why!

good luck with selling dude.

Thanks Munkul... glad I got to own/experience a rare thing such as a 16vt cinq! but we all need to move on... get something better as standard...

Looks like ill be going for something 4x4.... turbo....German
