For the record, I have decided to ellaborate a little more as to the 'hows' and 'whens' concernign my liason with the aforementioned TT.
I was rattling along the M62 on my way to Leeds doing maybe 95ish. This Audi TT (yes a 225hp one) came up alongside me (I was in the middle lane).
There were NO other cars about, this was about 11pm. There is a section outside manchester where the motorway seperates and there is a large reservation between the carriageways; this is where the following happened...
As said, this TT crawls up alongside me probably at about a tonne, I ofc being very bored, decided to slipstream him to save on my right foot. The driver of the TT notices me do this, and lets me get up close (very sporting of him, no pun intended) then calmly proceeds to increase velocity down the hill.
Myself snugly sat about 10 feet from his bumper, we carry on down the hill collecting pace. With a zero drag coeffiecient in pplace for my Cinq, and this TT literally towing me along; the indicated speed of slightly under 120mph was achieved.
I think both myself and the TT driver knew that I was at absolute terminal velocity, so he decided to pull over and let off the throttle a bit to see what happened. Cue me literally jumping up and down in my Cinq cursing at my velocity dropping, and this TT guy sat to my left must have been in stitches.
I am not some cocky little teenager/boy racer; I am a 31 year old Consultant who usually drives around in my 1992 Lancia Integrale EvoI, but used the Cinq for the trip from my usual stomping ground of the Isle of Man as the Grale was (and still is) off the road.
Please note that since the Isle of Man has no speed limit, and as a Manx driver my license cannot be endorsed by UK courts; I do indeed treat your motorways with the raging they deserve when traffic conditions are safe. This was a very quiet night and the other driver knew exactly what he was doing.
