General top speed cinqo

on a very flat smooth road mine will slowly keep pulling to 120, give it a bit of a hill and it will get there a little bit quicker.
my girlfriends 1.2 8v corsa (bag of carp!) cant get passed 105 even down hill.

0-60 times i would say 11.5 - 12.5 sec and thats hammering the hell out of the car.

dont think im that bothered will the overall speed, just like the car for the very nippy driving round town and handling.

I have been told that I was doing about 117mph which was recorded on some kind device thing but dunno wat but that was downhill nr bodmin moor on motorway (M5 ??)

Was told was doing 118 on M62 but seen as my speedo doesn't wk properly I recon I was only doing 65 cos thats wat it told me lol

Seen 116 on many an occasion and once 119 but his reqiuired a slight downhill incline and nearly 4 miles of straight road. Perhaps someone could take Paul a spin? Most of my friends once been taken for a spin say OMG, WTF etc that's quick!

Having spent the last 3 weeks with the only car being a 220BHP coupe, I think I'd be let down!

 ayyyeeeeeeee

I'm sure I could take paul for a spin down some country roads and show him that speed means nothing

(Cos the the speedo cable is broke)

arent they brilliant like this mine was broke for about a week cos i couldnt be arsed to fixit when i was learning so just used to drive everywhere at about 45 50 and when my dad said "your not doing the speedlimit like you do with your instructor" i just used to say well as far as i can see im doing the limit.

there a bastard through cameras

back to topic on a Very very long private track ive pulled 85 mph and then after about two minutes it backed off itself and sat at 80 which i thought was odd and very disapointing.

spudguns (SX) is always off the clock :D u cant really tell wot speed he`s doing cos the needle is touchin the plastic!! lol

For the record, I have decided to ellaborate a little more as to the 'hows' and 'whens' concernign my liason with the aforementioned TT.

I was rattling along the M62 on my way to Leeds doing maybe 95ish. This Audi TT (yes a 225hp one) came up alongside me (I was in the middle lane).

There were NO other cars about, this was about 11pm. There is a section outside manchester where the motorway seperates and there is a large reservation between the carriageways; this is where the following happened...

As said, this TT crawls up alongside me probably at about a tonne, I ofc being very bored, decided to slipstream him to save on my right foot. The driver of the TT notices me do this, and lets me get up close (very sporting of him, no pun intended) then calmly proceeds to increase velocity down the hill.

Myself snugly sat about 10 feet from his bumper, we carry on down the hill collecting pace. With a zero drag coeffiecient in pplace for my Cinq, and this TT literally towing me along; the indicated speed of slightly under 120mph was achieved.

I think both myself and the TT driver knew that I was at absolute terminal velocity, so he decided to pull over and let off the throttle a bit to see what happened. Cue me literally jumping up and down in my Cinq cursing at my velocity dropping, and this TT guy sat to my left must have been in stitches.

I am not some cocky little teenager/boy racer; I am a 31 year old Consultant who usually drives around in my 1992 Lancia Integrale EvoI, but used the Cinq for the trip from my usual stomping ground of the Isle of Man as the Grale was (and still is) off the road.

Please note that since the Isle of Man has no speed limit, and as a Manx driver my license cannot be endorsed by UK courts; I do indeed treat your motorways with the raging they deserve when traffic conditions are safe. This was a very quiet night and the other driver knew exactly what he was doing.

sorry, hope I didn't cause offence, was trying to make light of the situation.

IOM is awesome, we drove the TT circuit with Clubcento in May. Had a little 'moment' down crag-na-bar!

As an aside, had the silver one to 120 on the flat today - that cold morning air is sheer nectar to a cento :)

What's the score with a Manx license then - what happens if you're caught speeding?

Basically whilst in the UK, I can do pretty much whatever I want since they cant touch my license. They could (I suppose) impound my car to enforce a fine. But experience has proven that - bar an actual accident - I get away with stuff...

Most memorable

155mph clocked in my Grale on the M58, nice chat with the copper, then off I toddled.

In Preston overtaking 2 lines of traffic down the middle on my GPZ900R (years ago) whilst on my back wheel with the front car being an unmarked copper. After 30 seconds of swearing at me, he jumped back in his car and sodded off.
