General "To-Late-Lamp"

I have just finish repear my engine after HG blowup. I got the car like that so i dont know how it was before.
Its a "S" model whit a "too-late-lamp" - no guage for the temp.
How do you know if the lamp is working - it does not light when ignition switch is on MAR so i can not see if the bulp is ok.
Can i ground the wire on the head to see ?
Or what?

just buy clocks with temp gauge from a sx model and put it in, while doing that you can do this too

Yes that is what i am gona do but I have not found one yet - remember i a from Denmark so i need one with kilometer counter - not miles.
In meen time I would like to know how to be sure engine is not to hot

you cant know that, unless you got infrared thermometer, scrapyard will have that for sho

Must be a way to see if bulb is ok.
Cant believe somebody make a car where you cant be sure if temp lamp is ok - it my first Fiat so maybe Fiat is like that.

Not got one to play with, but I think the bulb comes on before the engine starts as a bulb check. Pretty sure it's a conventional(ish) bulb rather than a small LED.

if you have a wiring diagram why not see what causes light to come on thus you could possibly earth the sensor wire to confirm it works plus find out where it gets its reading from?
these puntos were fairly low tech even though they were good

Now I can tell the bulb is okay
We did earth the sensor wire and the light came on.
Very strange the bulb does NOTcomes on before the engine starts as a bulb check.
I think its a rather stupid way to build a car.
I am gona buy a new clock very fast.

is the temperature sensor connected or is the wire broken internally? I am not that familiar with electronics but given the fact the bulb is working but does not turn on at engine check, it might not be connected.

Or am I thinking too simple with that?

And even in Denmark I guess there are plenty SX's or higher on the salvageyard form which you can get a dash. It is only mounted with the 2 screws you see from behind your steering wheel.

you could fit a aftermarket gauge in the interim period while you look for new clocks.

I think I have the time to find a new clock becourse now the car is not driving while I have take the rear beam out for overhaul.
It will take a week or to before driving Again.

Now I got a new clock. The right one with rev and temp gouge.
And Kilomter couter.
I gave 150 d kroner for it. Most be 15 £ .
Its gona be fun fitting it.
