Tyres were only a month or two old. The car doesn't look like it went sideways at all. I checked for scrubbing or a flatspot on the tyre that came off the car, and there was no sign of any. Anyway, the ultimate test might be that I have them myself.

for safety i wouldnt reuse the brakes, tyres, or steering.

I can see your point with the tyres and maybe steering but the front brakes should be fine. If the car went to a breakers I can tell you now those brakes would be sold off !!

have very close look at the tread if its gone side ways they often very slightly out of line, hard to explain um feel tread with palm of hand see if its not flat. i find new tyres up my mates yard, he says dont get them they been sideways, they look perfect, but not worth risk

Just re-read my post. What I meant is that the car didn't go sideways, and there's no sign of the tyres having gone sideways. Forwards all the way, until it started going down the bank and rolled. :(

just picked this thread up, sorry.

Those photos really made me think, glad to hear that you are ok sammi. It is good to know that the crash has not put you off getting back in a car, I know stuff like this can effect people in different ways. H, sounds like you dealt with it all quite well, well done, I dunno what I would have done in the same situation.

Would be nice to hear the outcome of everything when it is finally sorted out, which can take a while.

I wouldn't wish for anyone to be in either sammi's or H position. I hope that sammi's experience will allow a few more drivers to help make the roads a sfaer place for everyone.

Get well soon and back behind the wheel.

To be fair though Peaster the safest driver would have wound up the same way in that situation! Although yeah if she was speeding it could have been worse I suppose.
Yes, I agree totally. I did not mean for that to sound like she was doing anything wrong. I was just trying to say that I hope one persons experience can make other people think about the way and which they drive as you never know what is round the corner.

Blimey Sammi Just been linked to this thread by Peaster2k. Dreaded the content having seen the title.....

Thank God you're OK, albeit shaken up but thankfully it doesn't seem to have blunted your sense of humour. And as one who's been up a tree I can honestly say you just don't think about how bad it could have been except 'in the cold light of day' when you realise how fragile life really is, and yet how robust we all really are. I laughed at the thought of you wanting to drive the Coupe home. Would have loved to have seen your face when you saw it.

Most important thing is you're here on the Forum. Safe, sound, a bit bent, but getting better.

<Big Hug> Take care, accept all the love and attention while you can get it. Really glad you're OK.

Thanks david and Tosh

everyone has been really brilliant on here and at home, i had some flowers from my neighbour delivered and the texts, pms and emails i have been getting plus the posts on here is amazing.

I still dont think its sunk in whats happened because even i am shocked by the way i have been, when my bravo was written off when it skidded on ice i cried for days.

I took the sig off, cos it made me feel sick to look at it, but i think when i see the car in person it might hit home a bit more.

If you love your car you're car will love you back, me and a friend was speaking about this yesterday.

You car wouldn't let you die and I'm glad it didn't.

I know I'm late but you seem to be recovering well sammiboo. Don't overdoo anything for a bit, once you're fully recovered then you can do what you wannadoo again :)

I liked that coupe though, its on me phones wallpaper from a pic I took at the stanford hall meet.

take it easy sammiboo.

Why not get a TIPO? :D

On my way to work this morning, I went up the slip road where the incident occurred. I drove normally, leaving the dual carriageway at 70mph, and starting to brake as normal. The point where I reckon the bearing failed, is pretty much at the point where I started braking. At that moment I was doing 50 mph. A 1300 kg car travelling at 50 mph has A LOT of kinetic energy to disipate. Given how short a distance it is to where the car left the road, the car was probably doing about 40mph when it left the road
In regrds to Peaster's post, while it makes you think that you can never predict what's ging to happen, this was a problem that wasn't caused in any way by driver error, and there was no sign of any impending problem. So you have to weigh up whether you want to drive everywhere at 30 mph or not, and you can still have a bad accident at that speed.
