Hi all... ive been asking a few questions with regards to my new seicento, and thought it would be rude not to post a build / progress post...

So here it is...

It started life as a 2002 seicento on 37,000 and with a blown headgasket thanks to a young lad owner... which although i had to tow the car 100 miles, was a steal at £500!!

Ive managed to source a punto 85 engine, which is going to be thrown into the engine bay at the cost of £250 delivered. This is complete, and with loom, ecu, code box, barrel and key.

I wont be rebuilding the engine as i have done on prior projects as ive been off the road for quite sometime... Just hoping for the best, if there is an issue in the near future then i will end up doing a full rebuild.

Today i (with the help of two mates) stripped the shell out, and got started on the interior... I stole some cobra monaco seats from my 2.0 vauxhall nova, and began to build custom runners for the sei. I then cut and welded in a rear brace with enertia reels on, which mean i am able to move about in the harnesses, and they will lock in an accident (god forbid).... Also tinted the rear quarters, and removed 75% of the 1.1 engine....

Hopefully the engine should arrive tomorrow when i get in from work... planning on getting the engine in as soon as possible. I will be using the loom and electrical parts which are included with the engine as it will be quicker to get up and running.

The only question i do have at the min is on the starter.... Is the punto starter the same as the seicento one? The one on my seicento is on its way out :(

Heres some pics...

aye, the wiring MAY different very slightly - but i doubt it.

(my car has a stilo starter on it as the cinq one was packing up, so i adapted my cinq wiring to suit the stilo starter)

a quick update, and a few Q's...
Currently most of the car is ready, and only need to wire up, sort fueling and replace sump due to a pin hole through rust... nice.

Anyhows, does anyone know how to bypass the key code sensor, as i can only assume that the sensor cuts out a switched earth or live, and i will sort out an immob another way..

Does anyone know which way around the flow and return is on the punto 85 injector rail?

Has anyone got a concrete working wiring solution for the punto loom spliced into the seicento mpi loom?

Pics of where im at.... Oh and the exhaust is temp side exit depending on noise.

Tidy car that will be!

ermmm, how did you get those mini wheel to fit :D!!!??

What exhaust manifold did you use to mate it up with the seicento exhaust ?

Thanks
Ming

mini wheels, secret...

only messing, just a mash with a 16mm drill bit, then some wobble bolts, wobble lockers and some 67.1 to fiat spiggot rings.

As for the exhaust, its a decat, as i didnt have a downpipe, just the 16v punto manifold. From the flange down its recycled seicento exhaust, covered in heat wrap. Only a temp measure to be honest as i can guarantee it will be tooo loud for me.

Wheels look good, still pissed off I can't fit them :bang:. Ahh well, looks like it's borbet A's for me :D.

I sent ye a text bud, ring me or something as i'm just about to start cleaning my gearbag ready for paint :tempt:.

Thanks
phones dead, gimme 20 to charge it and il bell ya... joys of an iphone lol

These were my guess, hence the Q marks. but they turned out to be correct;

You can't 'bypass' the immob, it's remarkably clever for a 90s FIAT. Unless the correct code is sent into the ECU, it won't 'boot' the ECU properly. Think of it like a password on a laptop. If you don't have the keys and codebox to match that ECU then you'll need to get it decoded. Have a word with reddy4bed I think he'll be able to sort it out.

How are you feeding the speedo btw, it would've had a VSS signal from the gearbox to the ECU and then ECU to dash - but i'm not so sure the Punto had one?

Cheers ARC, spot on bit of info!! Will give that a go later, as for the speedo, i am stumped... i assumed there would have been an electrical pick up in the box and would just connect to the clocks... hmm anyone have any ideas as my last 85 sei had a speedo that was working (bought it already converted).

As for the wheels they are Ultralite wheels, and in a 13x7j.. the splitter is a donated one from todger, think from the new cupra but not 100% sure

Just thought i bet my power steering wont work with this conversion... grr

Use the seicento speed sensor but don't connect to the ecu.
The input to the ecu may be just for diagnostics. The power steering ecu has a connection input to the injection ecu also.
