The Ford of Fiestaness...

Introduction

Well heres a turnaround! I've had a change of heart, I'm liking this car

So do you know what that means? Restoration to former glory.... :ROFLMAO:

Anyways here is said car as I got it, from the other thread. Hats off to Joe, another special from him (y)
Image1114.jpg

With the CREAM interior
Image1115.jpg

It had a sticky clutch, which was sorted in 2 minutes!
Image1118.jpg

Ford bragging about their power output  you don't see Fiat bragging that they have more hp from the same size engine...! (y)
Image1116.jpg

Then one day, I was moving it and went to reverse. Spare wheel tray hanging down. Its arse was a mile in the air jammed :bang:

Untill today, freed out and moving again (y)
Image1253.jpg

These wheeltrims make you think its a 5 stud. Wow it fooled me...
Image1254.jpg

They needed removing though (y)
Image1257.jpg

This needs sorting
Image1255.jpg

Sort of van...?
Image1256.jpg

Looks... Extra normal without the trims (y)
Image1258.jpg

I'll be taking the engine out someday... (y)
Finally I'm well enough and have the time to do something :)

First, a kind donation by a chap I know in college (y)
Image1497.jpg

A fair trade :)

Now a proper pic of that surround
Image1496.jpg

And let the bombing commence...
Image1498.jpg

A little later...
Image1499.jpg

Er somewhat finished? :p
Image1500.jpg

And then I went mad on something else...
Image1501.jpg

Oh my...
Image1502.jpg

In situ
Image1503.jpg

Then...
Image1504.jpg

Sitting pretty (y)
Image1505.jpg

Brightening an overly beige environment!
Image1506.jpg

And theres still room on the surround and lid for future stickers (y)

This will have to be replaced mind you...
Image1507.jpg

All stuff done so far is totally reversible if I want stock again :)

Stay tuned, more stuff on the way... ;)

Cool I actually like the sticker bombing - didnt think i would but on an interior your right it brightens up a boring surroundings. I have an old 95 fiesta sittin in the yard, last christmas spent too much ytime lying around in the snow preping for NCT failed on emissions and rear brakes despite complete new brakes being fitted, I hate drums too - i must have fu**** something up, gonna try and get rid of it for scrap!

is that an electric boot release?

not so keen on stickerbombing, seems like theres too much reflection onto the instrument cluster...

It is indeed an electric boot release but surprise surprise it doesn't work

I only realised the reflection when I put it in! I'll survive...

On an interior like my van its pointless but on something like this it gives you something to look at when its parked up :) when I changed the shoes earlier this year I thought you could unbolt the hub and swap them for discs, how wrong was I...! Since then I've re-adjusted the "self adjusting" mechanism at least 3 times, maintainance free self adjusting? Ha! :shakehead:

You'd be better off trying to sell it as it is, seen mk3s go on donedeal for €250 with just tax :) Emissions could be a faulty oxy sensor...

Not sure if Mattig style would look hugely different from original - though maybe i'm mixing Mattig up with something else, would fine mesh look a bit chavy?

The mesh I'll be putting in will be matt black, like the inconspicuous look! :D

Now an update :)

First, sunshine here :) time to clean some cars :) the underneaths too! (y)
Image1545.jpg

BUT! Disaster! Even though I start this car every 2 days, it refused to start...
Image1546.jpg

Yes, thats a double calcium battery. Oh my look what came to the rescue ;)
Image1547.jpg

Showing who's the superior car maker here

So I turned it round and cleaned it some more :)
Image1548.jpg

Oh :(
Image1549.jpg

No :bang:
Image1550.jpg

Marvellous
Image15511.jpg

And just where you wouldn't see it, more rust :bang:
Image1552.jpg

A bit more work needed... :shakehead:

the passanger side airbag cover above the glovebox comes off as well ;)
oh and did you really expect to see a fiesta without rust :)

Oh yes, have the other one ready for whatever! Thinking of something ridiculous like a bookshelf or a toaster on the fascia.... Sure lets see what I come up with! :p

Rust will have to be cut out or ground away, that's for another update...!

So to fit these pillar trims (y)
Image1578.jpg

Comes out handy :)
Image1577.jpg

Refitting wasn't as easy due to this clip :bang:
Image1579.jpg

But alas...
Image1580.jpg

:D

However the other side was feeling a bit self conscious. I helped solve that (y)
Image1581.jpg

Now, what to put in this space...
Image1582.jpg

Ah that's better :D
Image1583.jpg

That's a future update ;)

when its gettin lowered? Sold my festa the other day so bang goes my lowering project! Looking for something new to play around with poss a cinq or siecento or anything else small!

I know you're looking at a 126, theyre pretty specialist now. Look for a Panda or cinq (y) Both can be around the same price, both will achieve a higher price for better examples. Look at scottyy's panda for his lows, not my taste but shows how a panda can look lowered!

m20b25; I'm not a fan of fiesta's (or most fords), i like the sticker bombing though (y) A friend of mine has the beige leather in his, i can't wait for him to complain in summer when i know his aircon needs regassing and he wont listen to me :D

i really think you should put a microwave in there ;) probably has more HP than that fezza ;) jokes!!! i like this car, i really think you should referb the wheels and ditch the plastic trims.. and paint the wheels black or pink :p

I put my foot down one day, huge droning roar and no go! Its all mouth and no trousers :( I'll try fix that :D

Wheel paint now thats an idea.... :chin:

Well see how the weather fairs out! Sure I'll prep the other springs anyway, don't want inappropriately low.... Yet

Get much for it? A euro Sei would be an interesting project...! (y)

Sadly most 126s here rusted away due to neglect. Classic Pandas are non existent  We used to have 2 btw ;)

Cheers! The extra extra normal dreary interior needed some spicing up as I have to look at the interior for the next 3months  Should be an interesting experience, a "normal" car... Air con is fun, the one in the blue fester nearly took my eyes out :dead:

As updates go, I've to put in the filter when the weather and time permits. Nearly have all the old petrol driven out of the tank, was getting very very poor mpgs with it anyway :bang: In with some fresh Texaco in due time (y)

I remembered I have some Berlingo and Xsara wheels lying about with some 185/55R14s to fit... ;)

Got €200 a neighbout wanted it to put in a field to teach his son how to drive! so on the look out now for something small...

This badboy might be up for sale when the tax is out ;) hope to get it nct'd too! The Polo is just too tempting, have had tasteful ideas all evening :yum: Field cars eh! First field car I got was a 1992 Seat Ibiza. I couldn't kill it no matter what I did :p most recent field car was an Impreza SW. Broke within 23kms!!! :bang: both were 50 clams

Now onto my ickle fester (y)

This is how I spend my Friday nights: in the garage. Dedication (y)

I hate the standard wheels

Since I have no spare, time I got one... Or rather made one :p

First, a wheel :)
Image1587.jpg

Can anyone out there identify what its off... ;) Ah feck it's in my previous post!

Anywhos, moving on :) That crummy tyre has to come off
Image1588.jpg

Time to whip this badboy off...
Image1590.jpg

No tyre machines here ;)

Now there was this to deal with. The tyre held air, so all was grand, needed straightening
Image1589.jpg

Now onto the other side...
Image1591.jpg

Shortly...
Image1592.jpg

(y)

Now, using no heat and a vice grips, got the wheel straightened ;)
Image1593.jpg

Needed cleaning up
Image1594.jpg

Now, the tyre. As the tyres are 155/70r13's, fitting on 185/55r14s leaves the gearing much the same :)

Just need a tyre...
Image1595.jpg

That'll do! The less I see of those Sporting wheels the better

Same procedure as above :) cardboard to protect the wheel ;)

Once off, onto the steelie rim
Image1596.jpg

Once that side was on...
Image1597.jpg

Eventually...
Image1598.jpg

Plenty of swearing was required to fit that on properly :D

Anyone notice that the steelie got mysteriously cleaned up... ;)

Now, to pump the tyre. I'm not ashamed to admit I'm petrified to do this, after nearly being blinded by an exploding tyre when I was very young and when bead seal sealed my eyes shut when the tyre popped while pumping at 15. Pumping a tyre that's just been put onto he rim is a terrifying experience and a daunting task for me

Still, have to motor on with the job, fears taking the hind foot...
Image1599.jpg

Thank f*ck!!! :D
Image1600.jpg

Now the wheel's a bit rusty. Better sort that...
Image1601.jpg

Aprés the makita...
Image1602.jpg

Time for this stuff...
Image1603.jpg

Followed by...
Image1604.jpg

A few minutes later
Image1605.jpg

And we let that dry overnight ;)

Keep watching... ;)
