Surly 5th would be a better gear to use tho?

I take it you hold your foot on the brake as well while you dump the clutch to prevent it jumping forward?

Ziggy

I used 3rd, quick decision. was going to use 5th, and decided that if the clutch is shagged might not have worked as well. TBH happened so quickly it might have been 5th :p

Handbrake was already on, but I held it up hard, and right foot firmly on the foot brake, but as jenks said probably wasn't necessary.

Either way MEP you did the right thing mate I wouldnt have had a clue but thanks to your post, video and comments I would well done and thanks. :D

I used to have a PUG pickup which had a steel mesh air filter. to clean it, you pulled a metal pin out of the mesh, unrolled it & 'washed' it in a tub of parrafin.
You then 'charged' the mesh by soaking it in clean oil, tapping the excess oil off & putting the mesh back into the can.

First startup after the service was always fun since the engine (diesel) always refused to stop - and the only way was to put it in 4th and pop the clutch:eek:

Always a scary time - especially with the over-revving & smoke. but that was the recommended procedure.

What have you been watching on youtube? I thought youtube only had cat videos on it?

Have you seen those x factor videos, there's not a lot more offensive than those (even the 'good' ones). :D and don't get me started on big brother.

Maybe if there were more videos showing the bad guys getting what they deserve there would be less youngsters wanting to get involved with crime.

I love it when the scumbags get what they deserve.(y)

This week's court roundup in the local paper

(quoted from the comments section)
"Hussain... using a mobile whilst driving - so not really in control of a dangerous weapon - £305 fine
Lewis... No insurance or driving licence - £346
Cotching...beating the c**p out of someone - £100
All the above having the potential to kill or seriously injure someone & all getting a paltry fine.

Freeman & fisher - fishing - £348 each."

(that was, fishing without a licence)

iirc, some safety vid I watched a while back likened using a mobile whilst driving to driving after having a couple of beers.
Slap on the wrist for the scumbags, come down heavy on the fishermen?
Ok, so the drivers also got a few points as well - but someone who drives without insurance or license is hardly likely to worry about a few points?

Meanwhile, the rest of us continue to pay stupid ££ in premiums.

That's just come up on my FB as well - I also wondered about the parking skills (or lack of) of some of the other drivers there - That block paving does seem to have some handy bays picked out in a different coloured paving - There are 7 bays and yet only bays 1,2 and 7 are correctly occupied (the corsa is parked in bay 7 - so wtf happened there?) (OK, bay 2 parked a bit too close to the edge).

almost as bad as my first attempt parking solo, I got so close i could no longer move my car.
it was stuck next to a volvo estate. I left a note on screen after waiting 20 mins for other owner to return, then came back from bank n still no sign of other owner, they turned up after 45 mins from my initial problem. had a slight giggle, He just put a small amount of lock on my car and untangled the window mirrors and left with a parting word of, "done your shopping yet?"

This little story made me chuckle :D
