As would I. Engage 4 wheel drive & reverse over the lot of them to get away.
Mind you, after driving over one to get away, I'd have made sure to 'thin' the opposition by sideswiping any that tried to overtake or slamming the brakes on any that came up behind. there wouldn't have been many left to box me in at the end.

But then again, I have a dash cam which would show I was out for a pleasant drive with wife & child when hundreds of morons came from nowhere, one pulls in front & hits the brakes.

This guy had no way of knowing if his version of events would be believed - his word or the word of hundreds of independant witnesses. It's really fortunate that one of the morons recorded the whole thing & posted it online in the strong belief that him and his pals were in the right - the very fact that most/all were not displaying number plates tells a huge story, not to mention the cam man's many other vids showing wreckless riding.

even if he's stationary he can still be prosecuted.

The rule is you must not be in control of a vehicle while using a mobile device.

"in control" in the eyes of the law means Stationary/Moving while the keys are in the ignition.

If im in the driving seat and use my phone, i put the keys on the dashboard, so its obvious they are out of the ignition.

i do the same but i wonder what happens if your in a keyless car with a start button

I only liked it (BTW) because it clearly shows the b'stard in the act, not for having a scratched car.

I'd also love to know if the old fart has been forced to pay for his misdemeanour. (makes you wonder if he's done this many times before?)

I'd knock up some posters & put them around the market & pass the video around local police forces & maybe also write to all local papers.
That really is a bastard trick to pull.

Yes, it would be almost impossible for the old fart to get away with that one. Just before he vanishes off screen, you see him pull something out of his right hand pocket, transfer it to his left hand then he goes out of shot - and you immediately hear that sound we all hate to hear...

I stopped a Ford Focus from exploding on the way home from work this evening. Here is a video of the diesel run away before I killed it, some important notes on how to stop it which should taken note of if you own a turbo Diesel vehicle

The owner of this car didn't have a clue, and was in tears when I told him it was new engine and turbo time as a minimum. Was a '52' plate so might be off to the scrappy, but he had mentioned once it had all blown over and we were having a chat that he'd had the engine remapped :chin:

I take it you hold your foot on the brake as well while you dump the clutch to prevent it jumping forward?

Handbrake should be enough to stall it. In fact no brakes and it'll probably stall if you come off clutch quick enough......
