Sorry i just misinterpreted what you said.

And it's stainless steal and weighs about as much as an empty can of lager lol

And the stuff from the motorsport section actually goes direct onto/around the filter doesnt it? Surely reducing air flow?

It can go where its needed to reduce heat transfer from the engine to the induction.

I have a temp sensor in the bob and get real time read outs on the laptop of actual inlet temperature.

Dunno if you have room for it, but my cunning plan is to duct air straight out of the oil cooler to vents on the inner wheel arch (just like on the offside of the MPI Sei). I recon you get some boundary layer effect from the spinning tyre. (Is there an aerodynamiscist in the house?)

Build the box (for the duct) in something like kevlar or carbon and it'll insulate as well.

Hopefully most of the heat from oil cooler and other general heat goes out the bonnet hole.

With all the underbody protection there isn't much room for it to go down the way, and having a huge hole in the bumper to get the air in, I need to get plenty out.

Hence the extra vent on the bumper to try and get every bit of heat out.

Tracking now done, will need a relook after a few miles.

Brake balance bar reset and locked

Steering column mounts tightened up

(NOTE,:- If anyone has a steering wheel thats wobbling about a bit when moved at a standstill, check the side plates. Both of mine had distorted, okay mine gets a bit of a doing, but I was surprised how bad they were. Now reinforced with extra washers)

Just to add that nimbus heat shield is amazing stuff.. I had some on the turbo sei to keep the heat from the blower off the water pipe i had routed.. you could touch the shielding after a run even was pretty impressed

Looks like I have got away with it.

The connector between the main loom and fan loom was very high resistance.

I've cut it out and will put connectors and shrink wrap in its place.

Refilled the coolant system, fully bled it and started it up.

No funny noises, no boiling water. Took it up to the point of the thermostat opening then switched the fan on to keep it cool.

Plenty of hot air in the cabin.

I'll check the levels again in the morning, but there was no sound of water desperate to get out.

Two steps forward, one back.

Cooling system was still at the mark this morning. Connected the fan, as described and got the two taper seat bolts into the middle of the sumpguard.

Then it started playing up, would idle fine but any throttle would just kill the engine.

Found the centre pin on the throttle pot plug has pushed back. Think this has been playing with the readings as the car revs lovely with the TPS disconnected.

Need to get the lappy onto it to see what readings its giving.

After a couple of weeks of having to work for a living, managed to get a few hours work done this evening.

Bullet proof sill covers fitted, and kaylan on one rear arm.

New TPS fitted, can't find the workshop soldering iron, so I'll need to come in early tomorrow to sort the wiring.

New harnesses (harnii?) fitted, seats measured so I can get new ones.

Now...............its dinner time.

Getting really silly now.

Bought lovely bracket to support fuel filter. Beautifully made in anodised alloy and its going to live under the floor with a bulletproof cover, so will only ever be seen by me when I change the filter.

At least I can admire it when I do.

how much have you spent on doing this ? or is it one of those "if lost alot of receipts" type ?

The car has been a story of constant development. I actually get quite a kick from doing this type of work to the car.

If I was to add everything up it would run to many thousands of pounds but I have had the car for 14 years so averaged out its not too bad.

This year is a jaggy one because the harnesses and seats have to be changed as they are out of date for motorsport, but they will last for 5 years before needing changed again.

Man there are some serious kit going in that car ........... pure admiration from this end!

Am finding it expensive even to buy studs and nuts :D

Ming

OK, here is a plan.

Keep one of the studs you have.

No thread lock, but put it in one of the bolt holes. not all the way in, just enough to hold it in place.

Put the wheel on to the one stud, that will stop the spacer from turning and fit the three wheel bolts. Take the stud out and fit the last wheel bolt.

Job done.

Repeat for other wheels.
