Hi all, I have a problem, let me start by giving you some background information...

Last week my car wouldn't start, so I boosted my battery with a car charger I got... I then followed that up with putting anti freeze in my radiator.

Now whilst driving my temperature needle goes up and down, from the half way point, too just below the top (hot). Any idea what this could be? Also my heaters are not working either. Thanks in advance.

I have exactly the same problem, my head was changed in june last year so I'm hoping its not that again. Its been suggested to me to try the thermostat. I'm hoping its nothing more serious I cannot afford to spend any more money on this car

IF the temperature guage is up and down
it can be 1 of a few things

1 - insufficient coolant
2 - Cooling system hasn't been bled
3 - Temperature sensor is dying
4 - Dash Gauge is wonkey
5 - Water Pump is pumping poorly
6 - Thermostat is opening and closing when it shouldnt

My main guess would be 1 or 2 - as there common

Top up coolant if needed - then bleed - then recheck the bleeding

Thanks ziggy no.2 is my best bet. I'll bleed it tonight. Will report back later. Is it safe to drive?

i would be thinking no 5

Morning,

Update: Driving to work this morning, i noticed splutters of water appearing on my window screen, could this shine some light on my problem?

thanks

what do you mean it was spitting on your window screen - internally or externally?

If its internally - it no longer safe to drive, could for well be the heatermatrix leaking and spraying up - IF that decided to let go properly while driving, it could spray you with super 90 to 110 degree water, so you'll know about it!

Externally - Bizarre.... u will need to find where its leaking from

Hi again. I took my car to my local garage. Turns out it was the head gasket that had packed up. Anyway £345 later its all fixed. Thank you to you both for your input. Much appreciated.
