Technical Temp sensor

I have a tipo and was told by a fiat dealership that the reason why my engine light is on, cruise and start stop isn’t working is because of the exterior temp sensor isn’t working. I’ve purchased 3 off eBay…. Each one reads way higher that what the temp actually is. What detrimental effects will this have on the car? Will it mess up the engine?

Did you ever get to the bottom of this issue. Mine is the same causing the car the throw all sorts of errors like those you mention.
I cannot source a reliable confirmed to work temp sensor. Fiat want £245 for a complete mirror but to make it worse there are none in stock and no confirmed ETA.

Got a replacement sensor off the eBay chap as assumed first one is a dud but it's exactly the same about 30c higher than actual temperature. Beginning to think it could be the wrong one unless anyone knows if there's a reset or calibration sequence? I disconnected battery for 15 mins which I thought may help but no difference! Surely can't be this difficult

I didn't sadly, tried multiple sensors too. Ended up selling the car in the end!

I had the sensor go on my mirror but it only affected the aircon on auto as it was giving a low reading. It did not affect anything else. When I had a duff battery that did cause all sort of warning lights but battery was replaced under warranty and all warnings went away

Nobody seem to have found a compatible replacement standalone sensor for the tipo

Thanks all... really frustrating. Made even worse that can't even source a whole new mirror.

Complete mirror was replaced under warranty

Try shop4 parts they have one side the lounge/easy models in stops just have to check for whatever your car is

Mines has gone yesterday
It's apparently 72c today

Ordered a sensor to try will let tyou know how it goes

Anyone know beat way to change them?
Can you get access by taking the coloured rear of the mirror off

New one fitted and reading 6c

And to to answer my question
Take the glass out remote the 3 torx screws and the mirrors front and rear splits into 2 giving easy access to the wiring inside
