Please can someone help, I'm at my wits end. Garage seem to think there is nothing wrong with it but I know there is!
Will be driving along and the temp gauge suddenly shoots up, the engine warning light flashes on, all the other gauges drop and the engine feels like it shuts down and wants to stop, this lasts around two/three seconds and then goes back to normal. Garage hooked it up to machine and told me nothing wrong. Few days later went to start it and nothing, not even ticking over. Garage came out, said it was something to do with the temp gauge, they had to disconnect something under the bonnet to get it going, they took it back to the garage, replaced the part and all seemed fine for a day or two.
But now it's just getting worse, it's doing the temp thing all the time and is now completely shutting down when I'm driving, I have to turn off and restart, which takes a few goes.
It's scary, especially when I have the kids in the car. Can anyone point me in the right direction? The garage say nothing happens like that when they drive it! Thanks in advance.

Change garage. Find a fiat specialist near you.

This sounds like an electrical problem. Check battery condition, earth cables and alternator charging voltage.

Happened to me once while driving on a bumpy road. Then, the engine started automatically and had no similar problem since then (7 or 8 months ago).
I think that poor electrical connection somewhere was the problem.
