Hello there, I have had a strange problem since putting the 1242 in the Cinquecento it has been cutting out during idle then being stuborn to start again afterwards. so after a while i gave up and took it to a local test and tune garage where they told me that everything was fine apart from the vacuum levels on idle and that this could be because it was a tooth out on the cam belt. I brought the car back home thinking ah simple job and no joy still the engine cuts and now it wont even strike up or turn properly on the starter if the coils are plugged in. i starting to run out of patience as every time i fix one problem another rears its head. Does anyone have any idea what i could be doing wrong?

Hey ming yeah there is spark from the coils and hts. it seems like a timing issue like its trying to spark on inlet but no matter how many times i try refitting the belt it doesnt fire. it tuns perfectly when the coils are unplugged but it kind of turns a little then stops when they are plugged in

ahhh, this could be due to the crank pulley being fitted in the wrong positions.

Did you make sure the nipple on the crack spocket matches the hole on the crank pulley?

Thanks
Ming

:yeahthat: check this as it sounds exactly the same prob as what i had when i put my original engine back together lol
