General stilos on dyno..

General stilos on dyno..

mine is the 1994 one, I didn't need all the whiz bang stuff just bhp and 0-60 for the race car.

At the moment it looks like thats the only one sold in the UK, Still..

Why are we so far behind in this stuff....

Thanx for the offer Braden, very nice of you..

but i think i will try to get one that i could leave in the car as i don't know when i'll get the opportunity to use it, so it will be more of a spur of the moment kinda thing.

i'll need to get one i can intergrate into the car more.

Does anyone know if these things can be wired so it don't have to run to the cig lighter ?

Have you found out any more on the Turbo for an Abarth yet Ben ?

If a turbo can boost a 1.2 and 1.6 like that, image what it could do to the Abarth :D

Well I had a chat with Johns who says it can be done & my mate at the Alfa specialist says it can be done I think the major hassle is the plumbing & the fact you would need to buy a new ECU because the Stilo is drive by wire & the coupe isn't. Also there is some doubt over the pistons & conrods someone told me they might be too weak for the power hike, can't see that myself they should be able to handle at least 300bhp but I'll find out & let you know. Everything else thought should bolt straight on once you find somewhere to put the intercooler. You gonna do it Koa? go on be a

Which accelerometer do you have Braden, i've been looking around and have found a few but most of the nice ones are in the USA...

Im planning on doing a few performance mods over time and it would be interesting to see the gains as they are done..

I would still say the best way to see if your modifications are working is by a rolling road as it's pretty damn accurate it's also getting quite cheap theres a place in Luton that charges I think £50 a session.

one thing i din't mention is that the abarth had only 7000km so the expected is to produce more hp after 5000km.....

there are 2 1.2t. the first one has reprofilled cams and produced 130bh. the 2nd one produced 121bh but had the initial exhaust system. after a week the exhaust system was replaced and the engine gained about 10bh...

24kgr is roughly 240Nm...

the stilo family was very happy with these results as they are well above those expected...

come on u abarth owners...ur engine bay is begging 4 a turbocharger.... :)

if i get a 70% increase in my humble 1.6lt imagine what an abarth can achieve...

170*1.7 = bye bye evos...... :)

I need to get my wheels & airbox first. :p :D I reckon taking into consideration the difference between a Bravo HGT & the coupe turbo, 153bhp to 220bhp
thats a difference of 70bhp which should mean the stilo should easily acheive 240bhp if not more  (y)

Sounds good, but not something I will consider, tbh.

I will probably run for the Stilo for a maximum of two years, then buy something NEW with a minimum of 350/400 bhp (y)

I said this to Koa the other night but if you want that much power try a Holden HSV GTS or GTS-R the GTS is 343bhp & the GTS-R is 410bhp with 386lbs/ft of torque. I'm talking about the proper Holden not the Vauxhall copy. Corvette V8 engine in a european based chassis "bonkers". :nutter:

If you go for one of them m8 I'll be well & truly up for it! :D (y)
Oh I forgot to mention the HSV (holden special vehicles) was developed by TWR (Tom Wilkinshaw racing) who was responsible for the Arrows formula 1 race team & the Volvo 850 T5-R.

I know what you meen about getting a new motor with the higher BHP in a few years Stu....im completely puzzled as to which dirrection to take...I don't wanna spend thousands on this car and then trade it in for next to nothin when something wonderfull comes along... If there was a cheaper alternative for the massive bhp gains then im deffinately gonna look into it. But the cheapest things don't give enough extra power.. a supercharger is a 67bhp gain for £3200... i think i would rather put that money towards the next car and a turbo would end up costing something similar i would imagine ?

Other than the CDA and remap what are the other choices. NOS ?

How about reprofiled cams, ported, skimmed & gasflowed head & inlet manifold. To be honest though the stilo isn't slow anyway (mind you I've been driving old bangers for the last couple of years) I'm not considering doing anything major apart from the airbox, remap & exhaust for the next year or so. I reckon with pipe airfilter & chip you would be seeing close to 200bhp anyway.

Well, unless they bring out the Alfa 159 GTA with a decent engine, and therefore all the toys with it, I have no idea. My dad just bought his 4th SL500, but not a road I want to go down just yet, lol [or can even afford].

For me, the CDA and remap were ideal on the Stilo - a modded car without the major expense/hassle/etc of NOS and supercharger. The only thing extra will be exhaust, and that's it.

The market is always moving - just atm I have no real idea.

I see you mentioned the 850 T5-R - I remember test driving that, in green iirc. Was so so tempted, but the insurance was a killer at the time. Bought a Mondeo 2.0Ghia X instead - lower insurance grouping, plus loads of toys.

Not quite the same thing then? lol :D
