we recently did a 30 stilos' group dyno test...

3.jpg

i thought that the results may interest u stilo owners..! :)

average bh untuned except 1.2 and 1.6 turbos...

stilo 1.2lt >> 80ps , 12kgr
stilo 1.2lt turbo (0.7 bar) >> 125 ps, 18kgr (y)
stilo 1.4lt >> 103ps, 13.5kgr (y)
stilo 1.6lt >> 110ps, 15.4kgr (y)
stilo 1.6lt turbo (0.63 bar) >> 171ps, 24kgr (y)
stilo 1.8lt >> 141 ps, 16.5 kgr (y)
stilo 2.4lt abarth manual transmision >> 167ps, 20.5kgr (n)

it seems that the 1.4lt engine produces 8ps more than fiat announces 1.6lt produces 7ps more , 1.8lt 9ps more, and the disapointment came from the abarth version, 3ps less....

the tests were performed on a reliable dyno...

I'm a bit dissapointed with the Abarth :( But I know that if you were to run 2 cars (same model, same spec) you would probably see 2 different readings.

Not can a reading from two different cars be quite different but also, the reading also depends on how run-in the car actually is. Anyway, 3ps doesn't really make a diffrence, does it??

Seems like a big disapointment from the abarth there...

What is ps and kgr in the uk format?

1ps is very slightly less than 1bhp, but general you can take 1ps = 1bhp.

Don't know about kgr I'm afraid.

Cheers james. :) in that case...i'm very impressed by the 1.2 turbo's read out. Wouldn't mind one of those!

Using the link Liam posted (http://fiatforum.com/showthread.php?t=28156), the figures are (using 1ps=1bhp)

1.2 (t) :D

Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 125
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1090
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 116.52
0 - 60 (Secs) : 8.98
0 - 100 (Secs) : 27.27
60 - 100 (Secs) : 18.29
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 17.46
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 80.00
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 17.26
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 81.35

1.6(t)

Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 171
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1150
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 151.08
0 - 60 (Secs) : 7.13
0 - 100 (Secs) : 19.09
60 - 100 (Secs) : 11.96
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 15.56
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 90.27
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 15.36
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 91.83

Stilo Abarth

Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 167
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1265
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 134.14
0 - 60 (Secs) : 7.89 (this figure is better than parkers, so calculator is probably out a bit?)
0 - 100 (Secs) : 21.91
60 - 100 (Secs) : 14.02
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 16.32
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 86.31
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 16.12
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 87.77

Have you found out any more on the Turbo for an Abarth yet Ben ?

If a turbo can boost a 1.2 and 1.6 like that, image what it could do to the Abarth :D

well the novitec supercharger gets the Abarth up to 237bhp from standard, so thats an increase of 67 bhp. I don't know if a turbo would have a better bhp increase than that but judging by the increase of the 1.2 and 1.6 i would imagine its higher than the supercharger. But from my limited knowledge i gather the supercharger is better for low end power as the turbo has the lag problem.

I had a look around and the Turbo seems to be a far more expensive option...
Any info on these things would be appreciated..

I have always felt the Abarth to be a sub 8 second car - ignore Parkers, lol :)

A 2.4 Turbo does sound interesting....

I can confirm mine has done 7.7, I have no mods.

onboard accelerometer. Dunno how accurate it is but it concurs with with speedo and watch.

Thats cool (y) I've been waiting for someone to post up some real world stats for the Abarth... No doubt we'll have someone on here to tell us it's not right... No names mentioned eh ;)

Which abarth do you have Braden ?
And are those Accelerometers available to buy in all good or bad motor shops :) ?

I have a 52 Black 3dr, sky window & changer.

If you want an accelerometer you can have mine, it's not the sort of thing you have a long term use for. When I get time i'll get 1/4 mile info, 60 - 0 etc and do it all over again on 101 octane fuel.

Which accelerometer do you have Braden, i've been looking around and have found a few but most of the nice ones are in the USA...

Im planning on doing a few performance mods over time and it would be interesting to see the gains as they are done..
