General Stering failure Warning light

We have two Fiat Panda Eleganza's ( 1.2) in our family both six months old- my one is fine just had 12k service £127 with small service agent- amazed one hour allowed by manufacturer for service time!
Partners car for last two weeks showing steering failure warning sign and message- appears to be after car is washed or raining- steering is fine both on city and normal appears intermittent fault- dealer has asked fiat for advice! anybody experienced this before?

On my first Panda the cover to the fusebox under the bonnet was not on properly. Worth having a look after you next wash it to see if any water is getting in.

I had this on my Seicento a few times, but steering was also OK! Does it happen when using the stering a lot during multi point turns or parking, as some times the motor can overheat and switches off for a moment.
