Nope dont have one there uncool, and attract thiefs to your cars..

mine is garaged,alarmed,immobilised with a steering lock.though i admit i forget the steering lock sometimes.

If someone really wants your car then there's not much you can do to protect it, but I thought the point of having a steering wheel lock is to deter a would-be thief as it would be a hassle to bypass it and easier to move onto another car without one?
Anybody that can get through the Fiat immobiliser would really want your car, steering lock or no steering lock.
nope, dont have one anymore as the one i had rested on the centre of the steering wheel. No good in a stilo as the horn is always live, and it pressed the centre down.

I think also the fact everyone just thinks I'm a drug dealer (which I am) anyway is possibly the biggest deterrent against stealing my car

Have to say, i got one as i use to live nr Middlesburgh the car crime capital of the UK, and on quite a few occasions my friends came out the cinema to find there car gone. One of my friends had his car stolen 4 times in the yr i was there, recovered every time, was a Cavalier.
I used the steeting wheel lock on my punto and never had any problems, even when a punto parked next to me was broken into, and some idiots obviously tried to hotwire it. It was a lesser model, but had no detterents.
I can only assume they looked at both of them and decided that the other was going to be easier to steal.
After all with enough time anyone can crack a safe, but an open cash box is much more tempting, so why not use it as a deterant. After all thats all any kind of lock etc is.

I've got a steering lock and I think they're ok for what they are... My car was broken into the last week o ); they've busted the door lock and managed to get the door open mad: ) but that's as far as they got. ho hum

Some good points made here. It might seem like too much trouble and uncool to use one: like all things it seems fine when nothing goes wrong, but I bet you would regret it if your ride does get stolen because you were too lazy to spend an extra few seconds locking it up. Will start to use mine now
Although i have one i rarely use it, because i dont park in places that would require it often. If i'm somewhere slightly dodgy or in Glasgow i'll use it, but never have to use it at home, benefit of living up a private road with only 20 houses in the village.
But I don't get it, on a Fiat, you're going to have to be amazingly capable and determined to be able to get around the immobiliser, if so, they will have targeted your car and a steering lock means nothing, absolutely nothing. Otherwise, if they just stumble across your car and are capable of getting around the Fiat immobiliser, the steering lock will be a piece of cake for them. So I can't see how it would help either pre-meditated or (what's the word I am looking for....you know what I mean ) crime.

Well as I said the lock itself wouldn't mean much to a professional or whoever really wants your car. But to the average (opportunistic) car thief (in AU anyway), if they see two similar cars parked side by side, one with a steering wheel lock and the other didn't, which would the thief go for?
But no thief will be able to steal the car regardless - unless they are a pro - so doesn't the argument become pointless?
