General start of the abarth rebuild/1.4 16v conversion

Well without certain people help this project would of not made it to this stage so a MASSIVE THANK YOU TO MING,WHITZ,DAN,KRITIP and any others who have helped me sort out problems and supplied me with parts,I COULDNT OF DONE IT WITHOUT YOU :worship::worship::worship::worship:
This doesnt mean im disappearing now im carrying on with the thread even after its on the road and i will be at STANFORD with it this year so if anyone wants a nose it will be there :D:D:D

Well first day off has been spent going back and forth to work in wembley which takes me 30 mins each way and been there and back twice today so 2 hours wasted driving to heat and bend the exhaust into roughly the right place...anyway its now connected up so it can be driven although it does knock slightly but i can sort it properly once i get it to work and get it in the air on the ramp rather than doing it by eye on the drive in the wet :mad:what happened to the sunshine:confused:
Had it up and running again and it will not tickover for more than a few seconds without me intervening on the throttle and when i do its as though it floods unless i dab the throttle very quickly and lightly to gradually flick the revs up.i know the light is on and i keep forgetting to pick up the bloody machine to plug it in:bang::bang::bang: but tomorrow im going back over to work first thing and get it specially and i will see if i can find out what its having a hissy fit over ;) car is getting more like the mrs :D:D:D:D
tomorrow im going to connect the clutch cable and get the gearbox oil in (y) then i will see if it can pull itself along:yum:
anyway the 2 videos are of how it messing around at the moment and thats the stage im at as of now.
Also today i got started on putting the freeview box in and wiring as i took it all out when it came off the road last year was going to put it in the blue cinq just never got round to it

only got it running last sunday afternoon :p was busy making the exhaust at work last tuesday and used the lines of the standard cinq exhaust but doing it by eye, once i get this into the correct shape then i will take it off and make a new one properly at work (y)this is just the template so to speak just to get it running quietly compared to just having the manifold on there:devil:

All 4 manifold branches warming up? Try unplugging map sensor while running to see what difference it makes. Are you using punto MAP sensor? Injector light will be on because a sensor reading is out of the parameters at a complete guess.

Turbo injectors? would explain your fun.

are u running those abarth Turbo injectors? it's a 1.2 16v map, but will be putting a load of fuel in without the remap. any black smoke? how the plugs look?

im running the injectors i had off you mate,i know it would be overfueling without the remap but didnt think it would be this bad :( maybe i should just pop the 1.2 16v injectors back in for the moment till i sort out any other problems and there is no black smoke and plugs look fine (y)

yes im using the punto map sensor and all 4 branches are warming up nicely and it makes it better when i unplug the map sensor!!!!

Injectors will be your problem. Stinking like petrol, injector light as getting a silly reading from lambda, stalling from flooding, bogging down as you accelerate due to increased fuel as it moves up the ECU Fuel table.

Think youll be good to go when swapped over.

Injector light is not on due to silly lambda readings. The engine is way too cold for the ECU to give a crap about lambda. Unless of course the dash dial is not hooked up and the engine was warm.

Andy, replacing the injectors is a must, with a little bit of luck it will get rid of the light, there is a possibility that it is on only due to the fact that the ECU cannot catch idle. Nevertheless, I would do the test with unplugging the MAP sensor as suggested for the peace of mind (though I doubt it, without MAP it would run still richer, you would get a total flood I am guessing).

I don't recall the exact flow rates for the abarth turbo ones, but here are the standard 1.2 16v nano injectors, and the stock 1368cc pink 100hp injectors.

https://www.fiatforum.com/cinquecento-seicento/136855-injector-flow-rates.html

There is also a blue bosch injector used on the 1.2 16v and I assume thats similar to the IWP045.

I seem to recall the abarth turbo injectors flow quite a lot more, due to the added bhp, so I also think to try the 1.2 16v for now if they fit, and use the abarth ones once mapping..I can post you the pink panda ones if you wanna try them as well

Hi Kristian i have the original 1.2 16v injectors that came with the mk1 sporting inlet and i now have them sitting on the printer next to me ready for change over in the morning but i will text you tomorrow as soon as i have these changed and i know how its running if still poor then i will give the pink panda ones a try(y)

I was asking myself why you used bigger injectors, but as it turns out somewhere along the discussion I missed that it is a 1.4  Anyhow, it is still better to use 1.2 injectors, you may even be able to get away with not mapping the ECU in the long run. The prerequisites for this are that you have the evaporation valve still connected (if not, this could be one other reason for the warning light) and will let the engine do some regular light and mid-heavy load work for a good while. But of course, this does not guarantee a good result, might be worth a try though (y) If you ask why the valve is important - without the valve the ECU deactivates the autocalibration routines. Note, you only need the valve, the canister can be still gone.
