not sure if ive posted in correct way?
i have a 2000 w reg seicento, its very low milegae as bought off a elderly lady, she for some reason had the speedo changed at 6378 in 2007? no idea why?
anyway the current one has stopped working? the garage have checked the fuses this is not the fault, fiat want £49 just to diagnse! as this happened in my audi last year that was connected to the gear box..
does anyone have any advice on why this has happned and a cheaper option to fix :) thanks katie

Speedo is driven by a sensor at the back of the gearbox. Check the condition of the contacts in the connector, clean up as best you can, silicone grease or vaseline, try again.

Sometimes the sensors themselves fail (scrap yard should have a few).

Do check -- at least -- the gearbox oil level. Sometimes no speedo working = a gearbox problem.
