Hi All

Just had to change a tyre and use the space saver for the first time, it came down but when I had to put it back the 'pully' mechanism does not retract so I can't get the wheel back under the car (now taking up space in the boot in a non 'space saver' way!)

Trouble is it's a sealed unit and I bet Fiat will charge a fortune to replace it - any ideas?

Cheers

Also got the same problem, space saver wheel has been in my boot for best part of 2 years! I split the winch mechanism to see if I could do a DIY repair but it has a PLASTIC spiral/screw mechanism that mates with a metal cog, the plastic spiral/screw part was completely worn away where it should mate with the cog, so no chance of repairing it!

I was keeping an eye out on ebay but chances are the winch will be in the same state.

If you get a price from FIAT let us know.

this is a very common problem. We break multiplas and the first thing we always sell is the spare wheel mechanism!

They are very expensive from Fiat, but you may get one off a scrapped car or ebay.

Just found one from: FL Autos Fiat Spares on 01778 440000 - £45 - they seem to have lots of multipla spares so worth a try.....
