After the install being put on hold for ages due to numerous reasons...im back on the subject, and even have a deadline for it all now!
Ive got everything except the components:
HU- http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/3220.html

Amp- http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/2911.html

and Sub- http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/1184.html

and now either these comps- http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/1168.html

or these- http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/...71-31396-38228&varient=&CarSelectorCatalogId=

Would like some advice/views on these two comps, and having them run with what i have with me already-keeping in mind my sub is a bit underpowered due to a mixup of subs..but am told will be fine (the RMS is actually 300, not 250 as stated)
Thanx in advance :)

Looks like a nice combination of kit. The sub will be underpowered but this can be changed at a later date with ease if you decide you need more depth. The ratings of the comps are about even so save a few quid and go for Infinity. Either way it's going to be a nice system. Let us know how you get on.

I don't think you'll go far wrong with either TBH. :)

Cheers very much guys for your views, and cheers for helpin applysei :)
I'll go with the Infinity speakers...since i'm a little tight on ££ anyway! ;)

One last few questions tho-my cousin has recently installed audio with similar power as what i am going to get...and what i have noticed is 3 things i dislike and don't really get.

1. when sub bass is a bit high, theres a sort of rattling from the back...can this be dereased..or is merely the speaker due to the high bass?

2. kind of the same, theres slight rattling at front speakers(non comps)-is this the speaker itself, or the doors, and again, what can decrease it, if anything?

3.lastly, what are people's views on the rear speakers? should i leave them disconnected and take them out of the car, or have them connected up...and if so, how?

Cheers again for help :)

I think what you need to look into is sound deadening, eg: dynamite, adds a bit of expense to the install but improves the overall quality dramatically(y)

Ah, i remember seeing a couple of posts about that...can't find them now though :( Any idea how much would be needed for he sub and comps, btw?
Although...i remember Chaos had a cheaper version of that...anyone remember what that was??

Sorry can't help with the alternatives, but I can say I spent about £150 on dynamat ( about 10 rolls ) plus normal sound deadening carpet over the top of that for the Punto.

Brown bread IIRC (y) There's also Stinger's Road Kill, which you can get in liquid form, normal expanding foam can be used, as well as Aqua Seal flashing tape (from B&Q). The Aqua Seal may only be good for sticking to horizontal surfaces though as warm weather may cause it to fall off :(

I must be honest but I do not believe that I have seen any reasonable sounding installs that have not used dynamat, I may be wrong.
The idea behind dynamat is to stop the vibration and noise off the chassis and metal parts of the car.

Expanding foam is good for filling gaps between panels for deading road noise I have used it in parts of the rear tail gate after using the dynamat and the rest I have used sound deadening carpet IMO needed to reduce road noise from the car, used on its own I have never found that the shakes and rattles and vibrations from the subs have been reduced.
Each to their own opinions I suppose.

I have used all three of the main sound deadening stuff, either go with dynamat extreme or stinger expert roadkill, very easy to use and basically the same stuff, brown bread I wish I'd never bought had alot of problems with getting it to stick even with a heat gun and in warmer climates it has been known to melt and leak everywhere. I have found stinger to be the cheapest unless dynamat have a sale on.

Expanding foam is only really useful for filling gaps, as Steve said. Its a cheap way of doing it - you can get expanding foam from B&Q (y)
