Hi All,

Mother has got an Asus EEEpc.

She uses it for general internet browsing not much else.

Recently, her battery monitor software (no idea on the name) has apparently vanished. I've been on the ASUS site but there is nothing resembling this software.

Yesterday, after restarting, the default windows password has been disabled allowing access without a password. I didn't do this, I would know if i had.

It sounds software related, and all updates have been installed, but for the password to come off? Sounds strange.

Any ideas?

Thanks!!

Wierd. Even wierder for an EEE to be running Windows!

I'd scan for viruses -- one of the free ones should be fine, once updated, and re-set the password.

My best guess, clumsyfingers. Check for diskspace (main problem on EEEs), and there's a most excellent EEE PC forum, too.

Sorted it by the way. Mum ran 'restore to factory settings' option that came built in. Did it whilst I was at work, can't believe she attempted it. Good job I thought to back up all her stuff.
