under the bonnet....
Hello,

When I was doing my oil change a few days ago, I noticed a very very slight torn rubber boot (if thats the correct name for it), which is the center part not near the wheels.

Now I'm hoping this is a simple repair by taking it off and replacing it? :p

Probably explains the noise I get during hot weather when turning the car, I had this since last year but never checked it out cause everything looked intact back then, obviously I missed that little part of it.

Are these things clipped on? As in remove clip off it comes new one goes on ( a bit of grease ) seal job done?

Thanks.

Benny

Do you mean the inner drive shaft boot? If so the driveshaft has to come out which means separating the hub from the strut. If it were just a torn boot it's just replace regrease and go but noise is not good and might mean the cv joint is worn.

if its inner cv boot they normally wang greese everywhere
if it hasnt done this yet then a little superglue in the rip usually solves it

cv joint is fine i checked this a week ago (i tend to do these random checks) to avoid big problems later on.

To be honest thinking about it now I couldn't poke that tear, it was like thin cut on the outline not actually deep enough for it to be torn. ( just checked now )

that noise has always been there, only when its hot not cold. (weather wise)
