Hi all!

Hopefully one of you can help me with this - I searched the forums but no-one seems to be having exactly the same issue as me.

In the last couple of months (especially as we're heading into winter) I've noticed the O/S corner of the boot of my Mk2a is getting quite wet (not quite enough for a puddle, but I can definitely feel the moisture in there!). The N/S corner is comparatively dry (I could not feel any moisture under the carpet).

A few weeks back, I took the light cluster off and placed some silicone around the holes where the cluster screws into (as I had a puddle on the spare wheel well of my other car, a Mazda 2, for that exact reason!), but doing so didn't seem to help. I do have a rubber mat on top of the carpet, which I will remove to help with drying (but, given the other side is totally dry, it might not make things better but I don't think it is the cause for it).

Is this condensation around the fuel tank (and filler hose), would this happen? (this Punto is a 1.9D)
I had the car waxoyled this summer, could a drainage/ventilation hole been covered by accident when applying the waxoyl?

I'm honestly running out of ideas... the only other thing I can think of is a split in the rubber seals around the tailgate, but I haven't spotted anything.

Thanks in advance!

Are you lights tightened? I had the same issue, turns out the rear lights weren't tight enough to the body to reduce the water leakage. or check the seals of the rear lights.

Thanks for the reply! I think I tightened them firmly enough, but I will double-check that. I did add a layer of silicone around the holes where the rear light cluster screws into on that side, but that didn't seem to have made any difference :(
