KoArAng- Whats your insurance like then with no ncb on an Abarth
Its about £700 now with the Lowering, new alloys and powerflow exhaust..
I went through the claim again after and gave myself 5 years NCB just to see what the difference would be, and it would have cost me £480 so £700 aint too bad..

Thanks for the advice guys, i'll let her know she can't have a mini, and I can blame you when she's p*****d off at me ;)
No shes a good kid and she'll take my advice..
I have always liked the Punto myself and if its a car I like i'll be more inclined to help her do it up nice.. but whatever it is, shes gonna need power stearing as she has this little problem where her arm falls out of its socket every now and then..especially in the mosh pit.

If youre wanting to get hold of a Punto next year ;) ;) :D

I gotta agree wiv Ems get some old sh*tter and drive it (nothing else) then when you have two or so years no claims pay the extra and protect them if possible.

Aaron too is also very correct in saying that by putting and older driver on your policy it SHOULD reduce the cost.

This is also the case for me after I had to get the Coupe re insured (after the 4x4 scumbag had written it off) ahh man that too brings me to the last point;

internet insurance is all good - however I had got a policy with Elephant.co.uk - wiv Full No claims bonus (have been driving for over ten years) (old fart) !! :D and protected no claims legal and medical insurance (worth it for extra 10 to 15 quid) and I was paying just over a grand. Great I thought UNTIL the sorry day mentioned above (HATE JEEPS) happened whereby I then claimed for the damage to my car (assessor looked at it and wrote it off) then Elephant had the cheek to offer 6K for the car when I had bought it for 8K only eight months earlier. TOLD them where to stick it and contested it until I got MORE (yep I got more) :bang:

Lesson learned from all this cr*p is that by getting the cheapest insurance isn't allways the best insurance to get - it you know what I mean ?

and do get them to agree to a valuation of the car (if your gonna spend some cash on buying) otherwise IF the day comes ( I HOPE IT DON'T) when and if you have to make a claim they will try to ripp you off when offering monies for claims made to your policy.

Sorry to Rant on (But I hate insurance companies :bang: + Also HATE solicitors talk about :bang: .

Pity the next FOOL who hits my car !! as the italians say "You smasha my car I smasha ya face"

Roo ;)

easy way round all this wrk for sainsburys! i phoned up today to get a quote on a 1.6 full comp £900 am only 19 2 yrs no claims, they give u 20% off if u go through sainsburys and wrk for them too. how good is that neva thought any think good would have come out of working at sainsburys apart from the check out girls :p

im 20 an drivin a 1.2 punto sporting 16v.
was quite surprised when my first years insurance cost me almost £800. it was in my own name, i had been drivin for almost two years but on my parents insurance.

however after only one year an 1years no claims added to my policy i was V surprised when my insurance was SLASHED to only £420!!! ok i reduced my limited milage to only 6000 miles and live in orkney isles, before i lived in cornwall.
but i then told them i have over £5000 ice in the car an fitted a cat 1 toad alarm an imobiliser. so it went bak up, by an extra £20.00 per month which is optional cover for the system fire an theft! so if i dint want to pay it i dont have to just my system wont be covered!!!

quite a good deal!!! (HIC)

try them!!

when i was looking at getting a coupe - the quotes i was getting were silly, some were around 5k, i shopped around and found the insurers i was with were one of the cheapest them being admiral and also elephant.co.uk thier quote was £1600 just paid my renewal which was £1200 i am on a bonus accelerator sheme which is 10 months then get NCB - helps to build up your NCB quicker :)

Does any body know a company that can insure my car
and if i tell them my mods the price wont change?

i remember seeing some one sed thay had found a company that did this?

can any one help??

cheers..

hey guys im 19 and when trying to get a quote under my mum`s name for my 1997 1.4s bravo i was getting quotes of 1.4k + that was online so i altered a few things like under my dad`s name with protected no claims 6years worth i now pay 350 a year with a risk of a 400 pound excess but if i do have a crash im still going to work out cheaper than what i would pay each month

btw if your dad wants to keep his claims on his car then just go with a different company from him and borrow some of his no claims :)

I was always under the impression you could only use somebody's no claims on one policy....You can't use your dad's no claims on his car aswell as yours. That's what I have always been told. A few companies allow you to use your no claims on two cars under the same policy of course.

Yep, I too was under impression one NCB to one policy!

If I was to buy a second fun car in a few years [an Atom, lol ;)] I would have to shop around and probably go with a company that insures both cars with the full discount.

THey do exist, I found one or two when I was looking at insurance, just very few!

An Atom stu?! You're my friend! :p

I have heard of this happening, but to find one which will insure modified cars seems difficult! If anyone does come across one, then please let me know. I like the little turbo cinq but won't pay daft money to insure it.

Well I consider myself fortunate then to have been driving for six years now, and despite having gotten myself 16 points in the last five years (Ouch!!) and only having 2 years no claims (To be 3 in August) I'm paying £311 TPFT on my 1995 M Tipo TdSX for a ten month policy with Admiral. Next August's renewal I hope to have that down to under £300. Last year I was paying £680 for the year on an 88 Lancia Delta HF Turbo TPFT with Tesco. The most I've ever paid in insurance was £1100 for my 91 Alfa 33 S 1.7 16v Cloverleaf Permanent 4, and that wasn't for long (Bloody Italian electronics!! and clutches!)

Getting insured under your parents name for first couple of years is a good way to keep costs down if you have a parent willing to risk their no claim bonus!

I did it as follows:

17 years old - E reg 1.0 Nissan Micra - £350 (Dad as main driver, full no claims)
18 years old - E reg 1.0 Nissan Micra - £280 (Dad as main driver, full no claims)
19 years old - G reg 1.0 Uno - £330 (Dad as main driver, 55% no claims)
20 years old - G reg 1.0 Uno - £300 (Dad as main driver, full no claims)
21 years old - G reg 1.0 Uno - £300 (Dad as main driver, full no claims)
22 years old - N reg Cinquecento 1.1 - £430 (Own policy, no no claims)

I was lucky as my dad already had the policy on the micra before i started driving and he just added me. We could do it this way as dad used to drive my cars quite a bit as runabouts. Have still hato drive very slow cars for long time tho :(

My wife is the named main driver and i'm an additional....we went through many companies all quoting over £1000 for the both of us on the Stilo (bearing in mind i'm only 23), So I got her to be the named one through a womans insurer and I was the additional driver...long story short its saved us over £500 a year
