Tuffnell performed his stunt at night and had no brakes, lights or pads while on the 30mph street.
Footage of the professional inline skater, who made four attempts to set off the flash in the camera, has now been put on YouTube.
‘Everyone loves the video. They think it’s brilliant. Some people think it’s quite mad,’ said Mr Tuffnell, 28.

Neil Hopkins sounds like a complete tool who is so far up him self. pillock!

There was a cyclist who set of one on parbold him along time ago going like 60ish or something stupid. Was in the news if i remember correctly.

Never set of a speed camera but the other year i was pulled over by a police car with sirens n lights on for speeding and dangerous cycling. Aparrently i was going more than the 30 mph speed limit and that is not allowed on a BMX lolol

They drove there? So why not use the car to tow the skater along at 40mph? If the car hits the brakes in time the skater will have enough momentum to set off the camera without losing too much speed.

Did you get any points on your BMX licence?

Because 40 in a car is illegal :p

Its all about the challenge of being able to do it without the help of a motor! makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside :p

!
I thought they were getting their warm fuzzies from each other combined with the fact that they managed to get the camera to flash

Of course you can, all you have to do is wait for them to find out where you live, then they'll issue you with some sort of speeding ticket & all you have to do then is send of your bicycle licence to DVLA for them to put points on it

In Melbourne there were a couple of guys who got caught going over 100km/h (60mph) in an 80k zone. Granted it was a tandem, racing recumbent, but the achievement is still there. They used to have photos of being pulled over, and the actual speed camera photo on their website, but they didn't put it back on when a redesign happened :(

Few years ago i can remember reading a news story about a duck setting one off in germany, dont know if its true or not though (y)

Ive been threatened with points for speeding on a bike too, but never heard anything of it. Was really annoyed at the time though for being stopped, got caught by a cop with a speed gun at the side of the road in a 30 zone :bang:

If you were doing 30+ how the hell did he catch you, was he Stretch Armstrong?!

:ROFLMAO:

i remember once having to cycle home late at night pissed as a fart wondering what would happen if i got pulled over by the police and the only piece of id i had on me was my driving licence

i dont know how true it is but apparently someone was on a motorway bridge with a speed gun once and got a silly number on it and then all of a sudden a military jet flys over

apparently the jets weapon systems picked up the laser or something

i dunno i was hardly listening when the person was talking about it

Speed camera tests on bikes parked at the roadside showed the speed of passing cars even though the camera was set to the instruction book and the bike never moved.

The laser gets bounced about & the camera has no idea where the return signal actually came from.

Surely you mean speed GUN as opposed to speed CAMERA...

Its the same thing - the gun has a camera and its sat on a tripod either on the street or in a van. A tripod or stand of some sort was the only way to get reliable test results. Hand held they were even worse giving all sots of odd results passing traffic or passing no traffic. Bikes are very hard for lasers because of all the shiny angles. But any speed measuring system should work on all traffic or its not for for purpose.

The average speed cams and forward facing Truvlos dont use lasers or radar so pretty much immune to stray signals.
