I think we should have a maximum sig size, say a maximum height and width, like they do on some forums.

I dont mean to be a kill joy or anything, but peoples sigs are getting sooooo massive that its getting hard to read some threads and soon we are going to be getting one reply per page!

What do you reckon Ben?

We all need to be strong, lift your heads up and think ;)

Otherwise always in the back of your mind will be those people who hate big sigs, and those who are wearing away their fingers scrolling more! Lol

I think its a good idea to have rules and regs on size and file size.

I only care about the physical size of the sig's, because I am ****ing lazy....

I like signatures, because you don't have to read the posters name just glance at their sig's (if you know what I mean, meh, you probably won't...). Although oversized ones can get a little annoying

I know what you mean... I do that with avatars as well... I remember a while back everybody swapped avatars, and I was well

and yet a mod edited someones sig because it was too big via text, even tho it wasnt even ment to be permanent! :chin:

Because as a joke he'd added approximately 40 or 50 lines of empty text to his sig. It was just a big space, nothing of note was removed, just gap.

You got to see past the empty space, it's the message behind it what matters :p

So could someone tell me the new guidelines for the signatures so i can change mine (as. as people have said my sig is fairly large)

I dunno if it helps but the image is located on my own dot co.uk site, if you dont like sigs then turn it off i suppose.

Cheers, Matt

FAO Matt:

How's about this below: Pasted your sig into photodraw then saved it again, went from 300k to 64k approx. If you add them to your gallery it sometimes saves time loading if access to the other server is slow.

I'm on broadband and I get bored waiting, it's a royal pain in the bum when I have to flick from page to page when doing moderator type thingies.

I wish I didn't say anything :D

I hated Chris’s sig when it was like that. BUT he did get a reaction, which is what he wanted.

Until there are any rules we can't really say/do anything about sig's. I am sure there is a wealth of knowledge among the mod's and you could probably sort something out in a matter of minutes.... So, why not?

I think that the option of 'no signatures' is a bit daft, but there must be a viable compromise? What ever you decide, it has got to be better than no rules at all.

We can control everything on here for you if you like, but a certain amount of self-discipline will come in handy in other areas of life, too.

Will discuss this with mods and The Marthter backstage and get back to you.

...my sig is smaller than yours so "the biggest on FF" statement is a bit exaggerated
I'm not bothered about physical size (as long as it's not a total ****-take), it's file size that matters. (though I did have a lovely small sig image til a moderator changed it  )

..& just one last point, isn't broadband cheaper than dial up these days?
No. You can easily get free dial-up accounts. And not everyone can get broadband. Everyone in the UK can get dialup though.

If people don't like sigs they should turn them off in their user cp which has already been said.
That is true, and I might give it a try myself. Is there an option to ignore the post content too?
