Sig sizes

I think we should have a maximum sig size, say a maximum height and width, like they do on some forums.

I dont mean to be a kill joy or anything, but peoples sigs are getting sooooo massive that its getting hard to read some threads and soon we are going to be getting one reply per page!

What do you reckon Ben?

Or..... a mod should turn his sig off! Its stupidly big!!!

Infact, thats a great idea, if a sigs too big, a mod should just turn it off!

No, you have to give them a chance to fix it before you turn it off. He is only new and is not sure what is an acceptable size because no rules have been set down regarding them. Need to have guidelines before you can even think of enforcing anything

1) Screen 'real estate' (shoot all the computer consultants for that phrase) and;
2) File Size

As for the 1st perhaps ther should be some maximum dimentions to conform to (or not if you're a non-conformist)

and for the second there should be a maximum file size of say 128 or 256K.

Sounds reasonable enough to me. And don't forget I know how this feels from the other side - if you look back to the start of this you'll see I was hounded for having a signature 250 pixels in height and less than 50kb, tiddly by todays standards. And I wanna see my own signature - might start copying and pasting the code into the bottom of every post

So could someone tell me the new guidelines for the signatures so i can change mine (as. as people have said my sig is fairly large)

I dunno if it helps but the image is located on my own dot co.uk site, if you dont like sigs then turn it off i suppose.

as soon as somebody invents the rules, you'll know... The its not where the image is hosted that is the problem, its the time it takes to download for users using a slower connection.

My signature is no bigger than yours (Alex) or Mases, according to measuring with my fingers.

I suppose its an image and not text, ill wait untill the rules are set out as i dont wanna do a sig again, as this one took ages.

lol It will haver to include text, as alot of people think mine is too big even though its only a small file size.

and yet a mod edited someones sig because it was too big via text, even tho it wasnt even ment to be permanent! :chin:
