Scudo JTD 2008 has poor reception around hills, in the outback and rural towns and around power lines in city driving. Otherwise reception is very good. Tested the coaxial cable, no shorts , good contacts and ground has good contact. Removed the roof antenna and surprised that the bolt that goes through the roof , and to which the outer sheath of the co-ax cable connects to has no connection to the metal components that form the swivel antenna above the roof. Tested this with Ohm meter. Is this how it should be or has something broke.Otherwise it seems a pointless exercise for the co-ax to finish under the roof

Scudo has a short roof mounted aerial .
It's grounded just under the roof via the external wiring on the co-ax but the inner copper core of the co-ax does not seem to connect, to the roof aerial, which has an internal steel rod , I've checked with Ohm metre. Not sure what the purpose of the external aerial has , since the internal core of the co-ax doesn't connect to it.
Any ideas out there?
