To add insult to injury about my car being in the dealers everyday with nothing being done, this morning left the house at 6.30 and saw that everycar parked on my street had two dints in exactly the same place (including my gf's so doubly expensive for me :( ). So have been back to the local bodyshop guy (after going yesterday to get the kerbed alloy repaired) and he gave me two options.

The dints are above the drivers side rear window about 10cm apart (see attached pic, i know i really need to clean it), they're 3-5cm across and luckily the paint hasnt been broken.

Option 1 he said would just be fill the dints, smooth and spray, which could end up looking rough and probably wont age so well.

Option 2 is where i need your guys help (most likely T's), he said he could drop the headlining and knock them out from inside, this would be preferred as its cheaper and will most likely look and age better. But i run the risk of being charged to drop and replace the headlining if i he cant get to it from inside, on top of paying for Option 1.

So, do any of you know if that part of the car is a box section (ie cant get to the outer skin from inside) or is it accessible from inside the car?

Any help is appreciated guys.

I've had a look into this and no where local to me sells it (publicly)

I could sweet talk the technicians from the labs at work and see if I can purchase some via them. Bit of a hasle plus you need the safety gear for safe storage and handling.

Some one posted a link using Co2 gas and a hair dryer, that might work for this also???

I meant for the question in my OP, is the structure above the window a beam section or not?

Av done (y)

Its structual so I guess its soild, might have open apertures along the beam.
But I've not had to remove headlining on Punto's so haven't seen what it actually looks like.

could be difficlt getting those out because of where they are however worth a try as nothing to lose!

I use a sub-contact guy whose one of these real 'into his job' types that has been doing it over 30+ years etc... but he's good at what he does. Can ask around & get some quotes but beware as theres a few cowboys out:(

I had a 'similar' problem a few years back when someone opened their door on my Alfa 147.

I called all the 'usuals' Dent Devil, Chips Away etc, but they couldn't help due to the position of the dent.

However, as luck would have it I found this guy about 4 miles from home who specialises in this 'invisible repair' thing and he used some kind of 'jig' to remove the dent but the repair was about 99% perfect and involved no painting whatsoever AND it only cost me about £40 from memory (and trust me I'm fussy!).

Bear in mind though this guy is in Stoke, so it could be quite a journey for you but it might be worth a shot.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll give you his telephone number.

Ian.

It'll be double skinned and crossmembered as it mantains the structrual integrity of the car.

You'll need a good dent guy to get in there with long pry bars.

You do't need dry ice, heat up the panel with a hair dryer for a few mins. Then get some liquid air in a tin (for blowing dut out of electrical pbbs) and hold it upside down.. Has the same effect

Gonna sound lazy but can't be bothered reading through the entire thread as gotta get to bed.

Heat the panel with a hair dryer, about a minute or 2 till its warm. use some freezer spray (about a fiver from maplins) and spray it over the dent straight away and it will freeze it. The expansion and contraction pulls the dent out without damaging paint work.

Worth a try for a fiver, worked on my door panel.

/edit Just noticed the post right above mine....great :D
