put ham roll in to google image you get loads of pics of that, put in ham cob and you get pics of corn :nerner:

there is no single correct way to say almost any word, pronunciation depends on accent.

i say scon, but if someone said scone i would still understand them, and they would understand me.

the only purpose of language is to convey meaning, in both cases the pronunciation of the word would convey meaning which shows that both are equally effective and therefore correct pronunciations of the word.
 
i say scone...

but i also pronounce France... Fraahnce (?!) not france (with a short sound) tho i have a bath not a barth.
