School run drivers

Not one person here has mentioned the environmental implications. I know no-one cares about it and indeed why should I care since I'll never have kids who would grow up in a wrecked world but for some strange reason I do. Not just that but with the march of obesity in kids, walking to school is likely to be the only exercise many children get :(. OK some parents have an excuse of living many miles away, but take for example the small town I work in. There are busses to ferry the rural children in, and any other child lives within a mile of the school. So the reason for the massive hold up around the gates in the morning would be.......? Sheer bloomin' laziness.

Helz I agree with you but there are still plenty of cases where the only option is driving to school. There just is not a bus service running past the home of each child and you can't expect there to be.

But that doesn't let off the 4X4 imbeciles who only live round the corner, doing 20mpg more like 10 the way most of them drive, and are very dangerous to kids on foot becuase of the (stereotypical) women who can't drive them.
