Why only have it working when in reverse, or is there a law against it over there. I installed one in our Ducato & have it switched through the ignition. When travelling the interior rear view mirror was useless because of the design of the house. Just used the bracket etc from the mirrror to mount the LCD screen on the windscreen where the mirror was. Now I can see the cars following behind me that get so close I could not see them in the side mirrors & you can always turn the screen off if not needed for some reason.

I am a bit paranoid about reversing. Installed two cameras - one near, one far - on my 2.8JTD. You can see the setup here: http://web.aanet.com.au/manins/motorhome/reversing.html.
And I agree with Freespirit. I leave my far-field reversing camera on all the time now. Its another input to the driving task.

Hi. Have 2 cameras to install would like 1 permanently on as use of rear mirror and other to switch when in reverse...2nd camera will be angled down. Monitor has short wires, one earth, one power and other to attach to reverse wire on gear stick. Could I not power these to interior lighting as thats closest to where monitor will sit as opposed to the reverse wire so its always on? And splice 2nd camera into reverse lights to change to other camera angle?
others have posted they splice into ignition but my wires aren't long enough.
Any help would appreciated!
